Jayone Korean Red Chili Pepper Flakes Powder Gochugaru, Coarse, 7.76oz

These flakes are about 50-75% of the spices as your 'run of the mill' crushed red pepper flakes, so if you are expecting these as a substitute for spice, this is not it. They do however have a great pepper fruit flavor mixed with the spice, and since they do not have seeds- they are amazingly beautiful to finish plates and add a little color. We sprinkle a pinch on any white sauce pasta when plating to give it a very subtle amount of heat, but a great look. In addition, a wide variety of Asian sauces and marinades call for these, and really there is no proper substitute. Highly recommended.

I use this every time I make Mayo ramen or kimchi. I’ll sometimes use it in Mac n cheese. It’s not very spicy but it’s a tangy chili taste and I enjoy it. I recommend this product!

I saw this product being used more and more as I looked into Korean cooking, and this stuff is amazing! It adds a pepper flavor without adding the heat of red pepper flakes!

The size and shape of these are great for sprinkling on everything. Add it by the spoonful for added zip to all your favorites.

Just a note for purists....made in China

I made several batches of Kimchi. The first one was not hot, so I added some more to the second batch. Neither one had any heat at all.

Where I live, you can't get any Asian groceries except for soy sauce and canned bean sprouts. So I appreciate the seller making this delicious chili powder available.
