I do know that I have had no problem whatsoever with the safety lock on the 2nd generation knife and carry it with complete confidence **Q: are all smith and wesson m@p knifes made in the usa** A: I'm not sure. This appears to be a very sturdy well made knife. Its easy to operate and sharpen. **Q: Suggestions for sharpening blade??** A: I use a Work Sharp tool sharpener and find that the graduate grit bands on the sharpener do a great job. **Q: Does it have a pocket clip and on which end?** A: Yes, and on the butt end.
