Q: will this unstick in the heat?

I would say no....but never tried it.

Q: can this be applied to a patch to make it an iron on patch?

In theory, if the stuff works properly, then yes, but it wouldn’t bond my light weight materia (flour sack towels) so I wouldn’t trust it to hold a patch on.

Q: Can it be used to fix a tear on a sweater?

This is a double-sided adhesive. (Think of it like a REALLY strong double-sided tape that requires heat to bond.) Typically for tears, you would use this if you want to patch the tear with fabric (and this can be used as the adhesive for that fabric patch.) It shouldn't be used alone on a tear since it's double-sided. The HeatnBond UltraHold is a no sew product so you would only want to use this on a heavier weight fabric that you do not plan to sew.
