Q: Can you use it like a tee without removing the valve core? Will the tip depress the valve for you?

No, it does not have a valve core depressor. That would get in the way and block the valve core remover part of the tool. It is easy to use and removing the valve core does speed up pulling a vacuum, especially with the lower cost lower CFM two stage vacuum pumps. Once the core is removed, it can be used as a tee if you wish with one part of the tee controlled by the valve on the tool and the other always connected. This works well for isolation testing where you put the vacuum gauge on the right angle fitting and the pump on the rear fitting (after the core is removed). Then when you pull the required deep vacuum, you can close the valve on the tool and it will cut off the pump and keep the gauge connected to check for leakage.

I don't know and I don't find it relevant where it's made. I own 4 of them and they're awesome.
