Plenty of water pressure and excellent volume
Ordered this 1-hp Red Lion pump as a spare when it was on sale and so glad I did. We are on well water, so having spare parts on hand like pump, pipes, connectors, solvent, etc. is a most. After the old pump failed, I had everything I needed to replace it with this pump. Although I bought it when it went on sale, even at normal price it would've been much less expensive than buying a pump locally. The pump is quiet, runs smoothly and provides our house with 60 psi of water pressure, which is plenty of pressure and volume. Like most jet pumps, it requires priming when it's first turn on. When we first move to the house, I made a permanent connection between the irrigation pump piping and the house pump piping with a valve in between. So I used the irrigation pump to supply water under pressure to prime the Red Lion pump and it was up and running in no time. The pump looks and feel like it's well made and runs well. The pressure switch is set to 30-50 psi, so I adjusted it to 40-60 psi. The best way to do this is to turn the pressure adjusting nut clockwise and count each full turn. One full turn of the nut equals approximately 2.5 psi. Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one of these pumps in the future. It's a great quality pump and I recommend it.

Powerful, reliable pump that performs exactly as advertised
I’ve been using the Red Lion RJS-75-PREM 3/4 HP pump for a few weeks now, and so far it has been fantastic. Installation was straightforward the instructions are clear, and the mounting holes and connections lined up perfectly with my existing setup. The 115/230V dual-voltage option is convenient, letting you adapt to different circuits if needed. Once running, the pump delivers strong, consistent flow. It easily reaches the rated 16 GPM, and I’ve been impressed with how quietly it operates under load. Even when running for extended periods, it doesn’t overheat or lose performance, which gives me confidence for long-term use. The build quality feels solid: heavy-duty materials, tight fittings, and robust design. It’s clear this pump is built to last. One thing I particularly like is how easy it is to monitor and maintain. The clear inlet and outlet ports make connections simple, and I appreciate the straightforward access to the internal components for periodic inspection. I’ve also noticed the pump handles minor debris in the water without clogging or damage, which is a huge bonus for outdoor or utility applications. So far, I haven’t encountered any issues, and it has exceeded my expectations for both performance and reliability. For anyone needing a mid-sized utility pump that combines power, durability, and quiet operation, this Red Lion model is an excellent choice. I would recommend pairing it with proper hoses and fittings rated for your intended use to get the best long-term results. Overall, a high-quality, dependable pump exactly what I needed. Solid 5 stars.

Not worth the money
I purchased this pump to replace a Wayne pump that went out thinking this pump was of superior quality after reading some reviews. Man was I wrong, I installed the 1st unit as soon as I received it and within hours the pump started to lose its prime. At 1st I though something was wrong with the pipping in my well, but ultimately after speaking to their technical support it was determined that something was wrong with the pump itself. I serviced my well and replaced all of the pipes, installed a new foot valve and I purchased a Flotec well pump while a replacement was sent to me as I was not able to get my money back. I also did this just to make sure the problem was the pump and not my well or pipes. The Flotec pump worked without any issues for the 3 weeks that it took for me to get the replacement pump from Red Lion. I finally received my replacement unit from Red Lion on May 25, 2020. I installed the pump and after having a super hard time priming it I got it to work. Two days later I am back to square one, pump lost its prime and I am having a hard time getting the pump to work. . If you ask me this pump is an overpriced piece of garbage and I will never purchase a Red lion product ever again. Needless to say the Flotec pump is working flawlessly, but now I am stuck with a $300 POS red colored pump.

A little hard to prime but seems excellent
For me this was a very easy install. I had previously used pumps from harbor freight which came with a pressure tank. Having had to replace those pumps approximately every 3 years or less the most recent supposedly improved green model barely making 2 years due to failing tanks, pressure switches, pump motors, etc. that being said I wanted something more heavy duty. I purchased this. The pump company made me believe it could be of cheaper quality as I had never heard of it before. Install was easy for me as I have had plenty of experience with other models as stated over the last ten years. I generally cheat with priming. This is easily done by using a washing machine hose, garden hose, and hooking it from your neighbors hose spigot (if they are close by enough, and don’t mind) and to your hose spigot. Turn theirs on, ensure power is off to your pump, turn your hose spigot on. This will allow water to back-flow and fill the lines and prime the pump. After a few minutes you would turn off your spigot. Power on the pump and see that it’s pumping water. Generally removing any plugs is unnecessary with this process. If you have water pumping generally you’re done and clean up the hoses, thank your neighbor, etc. This generally works excellent and I can have any pump I have tried it on primed in a matter of maybe 10 minutes without trying to carry buckets into my woods to where my pump is located. With this particular pump I had water pumping at good pressure for about 5 minutes. Then it pulsed, then I had no water again. This was repeated about 4 times. No change. I had never had this with any other pump brand. Thinking it had failed I was ready to contact customer support. I decided the pump housing was larger so maybe it was withholding some air some how causing it to lose pressure. I ended up removing both the vent plug with the spigot on, at my end allowing it to still back fill with water. It let out a few air bubbles. It still found air and lost prime once again. At that point having taken a few hours for what would generally take a matter of no more than twenty minutes on a bad day with other brands I loosened the priming plug. Lots more air came out. I put it back in after allowing a water to run out of it I then turned off the outside spigot and powered on the pump. I ran it about 25 minutes with a little air still coming out but it has been two days now, it’s pumping well, and hasn’t lost prime again. I think with any larger pump housing you may have a harder time priming them possibly. It has decent pressure. I can’t really compare it to anything aside from the 1HP harbor freight models. As compared to them, this is far better. Also having your own quality pressure tank will certainly be better than the cheap harbor freight models. The quantity of water and pressure it provides is good. I am wondering if the 30/50 pressure switch could be changed to a 40/60 and it still be able to pump at the higher pressure. The current included pressure switch is about the going rate for most shallow well type pumps though.

Good pump
Very sturdy pump at a reasonable price. Had trouble with some wiring issue(my problem, not theirs) and Customer Service walked me through the fix. Very pleased!

So far - Great Pump
Great suction and output of this pump. Drawing from point 23 feet in the ground. Watering lawn and washing cars with this unit. It does put out 60 psi! Very happy so far. I would recommend a bigger output fan on motor case.. Update 10-12-22 I love this pump! Served me well this summer. No issues whatsoever! I still recommend a larger fan for the motor. Heat kills motors. This puppy get quite hot. Fully winterized now for winter. Will fire up in the spring. 05/15/23 fired up for spring (made sure no night freeze) working great. I have seen other post complaining about broken pump necks - my response - you let the damn pump freeze! Of course there will be expansion caused by freeze. Iron does not like freezing when h2O is involved. My recommendation is, pay attention to the weather - if it is below freezing at night, dont prime your pump for the season. You will see failure................ Update 06/15/23 pump is rocking away. No issues. I did freak out about pump neck cracks being reported and took it upon myself to add 2 part epoxy to the neck of pump as a preventative measure. So far, so good. Very happy with this pumps performance. Manufacturer - please consider using a bigger fan on this pump. This baby gets quite hot and I do not need another place to cook eggs. 4-18-24 Fired up unit after long winter sleep. Working great. (Make sure you winterize this pump properly) I have seen the stories of cracking pump heads. That is directly tied to improper winterizing. I have also added 2 part epoxy to the pump head for a just in case back up. Mo issues at all. 8-11-25 Still going strong! Selling house and new owner will be brought up to speed on how to care for this pump. Can't stress enough the need to winterize. Absolutely love this pump!

So far so good
Just got this pump up and running today. I’ve had a number of different pump’s over the years and this one was the best yet. Quiet, very quiet. I will review again if anything changes but as of now I quite like this pump. Bought a Burcam recently and it was noisy along with leaking. They took it back without an issue. I’d buy this one again

Nice pump but defective pressure switch
When unpacking was very pleased with this pump. Kit contained a pressure gage and teflon tape and some fittings. Witch was a nice touch. However, after installing and properly priming it the pump wouldn’t shut off. Pressure climbed to 70 PSI. I had to replace the pressure switch with the one off my old pump. It then worked perfectly. I note that a precious reviewer had the same experience

GRRRRR... another defective product on delivery
Just wasted two hours of my life installing this piece of crap pump to replace another piece of crap that only lasted an hour. This one went 30 seconds. I picked the "premium" more expensive option this time too. I have the same defective pressure switch as others have reported going back THREE YEARS, and they are still shipping them! UPDATE: the pump comes wired for 230v and that's what I was using. I remembered the old Square D pressure switch was still attached to the piping system. I ran the power back through that pressure switch, then attached the two live wires to the two wired connectors in the Red Lion pressure switch thus bypassing the Red Lion pressure switch, and the pump runs great. I am returning the pump and have orders a replacement. I will see if the second one is defective too.
