Not for me
Only realised, the core of these sticks yield an almost glittery, iridescent black that looks shocking on laid/coarse grain paper. Next time, I'll stick to fat, jumbo sticks, these, once the outer matt, black and rich charcoal has been used up, are useless. Best for 'scene painter' whoever these are, or quick sketches only. For real charcoal work, bad economy.

Great for a beginner
I'm new to drawing and sketching even newer to charcoal but didn't get great results from a different pack from a well known budget shop, they just wouldn't get dark enough for shading and just flew off the paper when I blew it! These gave me the result I wanted, well, for a beginner anyway. I have decent shading results that mean I want to keep practising instead of giving up. Bought a pack of the extra thick too.

La maison Coates fabrique parait il les meilleurs fusains. Je n'ai rien à redire, ils sont très bien, le format mignonnette permet de faire des dessins de petite taille. Je les recommande.

Not saying I'm an expert but these are fine. I've only been using charcoal for a few months. Not britle and nice to draw with.
