If your jacket has a significant blend of cotton (>25-30%), I would suggest you try using a fabric wax (for example: Otter Wax). This WILL change the texture and look of your garment, however, it will add waterproofing and durability. **Q: Must this be used by itself? Or can add it to detergent already loaded in the washing machine?** A: You would use this in place of the detergent. The bottle has instructions but it has a ratio of how much you need per jacket/ items you are waterproofing.
