Will the bristles turn grey & grimy before they wear out? I have one that looks greasy, isn't cleanable but I've tried.

I've had mine for over a year. They still look great!. The bristles are still white. Hope this helps.

Will these bristles be damaging to preformed showers, not tile?

Not at all. I've used them on mine.

Do these work for cleaning the toilet?

These brushes aren't really designed to scrub toilet bowls, but, I suppose one could use the big red brush to scrub a bowl, if you are into getting on your knees, and putting your face right up to the toilet bowl to do the work. Frankly, I believe it's easier and maybe cheaper to get a regular, long handled toilet brush that can be housed in it's own stand, next to the toilet, away from any other cleaning supplies, and, after some time and wear, just pitch it in the trash, and get a new unit, just as one would do with a toothbrush. As for these brushes, the one the looks like an oversized toothebrush, with a big handle, is great for for scrubbing ceramic tiles grout lines, and the other two are ideal for scrubbing clothing with Shout or Spray and Wash to remove stains before throwing the items in the washer.
