Heavy galvanized. Very strong. Exceeded expectations.

Nicely galvanized, but needs locking nuts and longer jaw bolt.
Turnbuckle is hot dipped galvanized with nice, thick zinc coating. Typical of most turnbuckles, it needs some additions to perform its best. It should have locking nuts on the loop and jaw extensions to prevent them from twisting loose. No need to use lock-nuts, regular nuts will do. Tighten nuts against the ends of the buckle. You'll need one right-hand thread nut and one left-hand thread nut. The bolt through the jaw should be longer so two nuts can be put on it and jammed together. Second best is to use a nylock nut. Very best is to use a clevis pin secured with a cotter pin instead of a bolt and nuts.

The turnbuckles worked fine but I noticed the threads were pretty sloppy which will reduce their holding force.
