Space saving and sturdy.
This bar works great. It's just what I needed in my limited space toilet alcove.

Cheap wall anchors
Wall anchors are very cheaply made. They couldn’t hold up a fly on a wall.

Could never install this because wall studs were not present where bar needed to be installed.
Could never install this because wall studs were not present where bar needed to be installed. Looks like a good and useful grab bar though. Returned...

Great for safety; doesn't stay up when not in use
We bought this bar because we expect an elderly parent to move in with us in the future and we wanted to be ready for that day. We had it professionally installed and we have been happy with its load bearing so far (we and our contractors all tested it. For accessibility, it is going to be great.Unfortunately, the bar does not stay in the upright position when not in use (which is currently most of the time, as we don't have the elderly parent with us yet). We had hoped it could sit against the wall out of the way until it was needed, but although it raises to the vertical position just fine, it does not stay there. Instead, it drops back down immediately into its horizontal position. Our bathroom is small and this cuts the available space almost in half; because it is already installed, we will probably end up tying it to the wall with a bungee cord or something, which is going to make the bathroom a lot less attractive.

Solves a space problem in an old home with a small bathroom.
First, please make sure you have skilled installation. That’s critical to the use of any grab bar. I chose this because our 1870 era home has a tiny bathroom on the first floor. There are plaster on lath walls and no place in front of the toilet to install a grab bar. My husband was already doing work on the wall behind the toilet and located the studs. Once installed this was a super useful and minimalist way to add safety to this bathroom. You can flip the arm up when not in use.I prefer grab bars mounted on the wall but in this case this swing up arm worked better than I could have hoped for a small cramped space.

Rough quality
I wanted to install something like this in my house to help my dad stand up from the toilet. It came in the very generic cardboard box. I noticed right away that the quality is quite rough and it's not as refined or nice looking as the product photo. On the rear side of the wall mount or some rust marks. If you have a really nice bathroom, it might not be a good fit because this is of a lower quality. Installation was not that hard. I just had to install it onto the studs because it would be supporting a lot of weight. Nobody should be installing this into the drywall alone.
