If you read one book this Summer make it this one
First of all, if Taylor Jenkins Reid says a book slayed her then you know you're in for a treat and she isn't wrong with this one. This book won't be for everyone, I'm going to to say that right here, right now. You will either love it or hate it - and I absolutely ADORED it. Solène is beautiful, sexy, driven & the owner of an Art Gallery in LA. Hayes is british, posh, dark, oh so sexy, confident and part of world famous boy band August Moon. Oh and Solène just happens to be 39 and a single mum and Hayes is 20.I'm not sure at what point this book is "cliche" or "taboo". In fact im going to be honest and say it was NEVER either of those things for me. What I was completely swept up in, was a love story, it may have been a forbidden love story, but it was a love story nonetheless. It took me on the journey as if I were right there living it with them. The passion, the pain, the love, the heartbreak. I felt it all - I REALLY FELT IT ALLI really wanted to find a way for Solène & Hayes to be together, even though the odds were stacked against them. "The idea" that there was a possibility that they couldn't be, absolutely broke me.The steam 🔥 - OH-MY-GOD it was intense. Never have the two words "come here" promised and delivered so much for me and I was there for every single second. The ending IT. CANT. JUST. END. LIKE. THAT...can it??? I have so many alternate endings going through my head its spinning. This book made my heart sing, it made my soul cry, it sucked me in and refused to let me go. If you read one book this Summer make it this one

At Least Fifty Shades Had a Good Story...
Spoilers***To sum this novel up, it is about a single, shallow, wealthy gallery owner, 39, who starts an affair with a slightly less shallow, but more wealthy, twenty-year-old singer in a very famous British boy band. The band is on a worldwide tour, so the female protagonist puts her life on hold to fly to lots of different locations to have sex with the young Harry Styles-lookey-likey, during which time, her 13-year-old daughter conveniently goes away a lot. And that's pretty much it.As I read through it, I kept waiting for the story arc to get going - you know, those oldies but goodies we all enjoy: conflict, suspense, intrigue, antagonists, defeat, redemption, etc. But no, it's just the same vanilla sex in a different hotel room (and twice outside) And the main character's obsession with telling us about what designer outfit/shoes/bag she has plumped for that day ...Firstly, I have given this two stars instead of one, as the author's prose and style are good (unless it's just gone through a hard edit). However, no stars for having wasted my time reading this, truly expecting it at any moment to get interesting, for the real story to start, but it never did.The ending that many are complaining about, for me it was the best bit: a merciful release. We dont all need a HEA (happy ever after) but some satisfying ending of some sort is important to readers. This was just a case of the main protagonist deciding one day to call a halt to the fling (to be fair, there was a conflict here, with some nasty fans) then refusing his calls and text. The end. Weird. A follow-up a year later about how their lives had moved on would've been something, but no, the 'story' just hits a wall. One other thought. It's a shame we live in a world where the likes of Richard and Judy, magazine editors and fellow authors get paid by the publishers to endorse, hype, and fawn over third-rate books like this.

Well written but not a romance
The book is very well written but ultimately it is not a romance. The genre definition of a romance is a story that follows two people falling in love that ends with a Happily Ever After or Happy For Now. This book has neither. I will say that this book is very well written and very romantic but ultimately it is all for nothing, so I feel cheated. And honestly the book has a woman ultimately sacrificing herself and her feelings for something / someone else. It's 2018 not 1918, can authors stop writing women who are so self sacrificing? Please. Thanks. This story would have worked with a HFN rather than the unhappy ending we got. I'm really peeved that I was tricked into reading this book. I wouldn't have read it if it hadn't been shelved as romance. Ok, I might had read it but I wouldn't have been expecting a romance and then been annoyed when I didn't get that.

A perfect steamy summer read
⭐️ 4 ⭐️Wow! 🔥Excuse me while I just nip off and take a cold shower...this book is smokin’!I was a little apprehensive at first as this isn’t one of my usual go-to genres, but I loved it! It transported me back nostalgically to my teenage reading years; conjuring up memories of books by Jilly Cooper, Danielle Steel, Jackie Collins and the like. Back to my old family home, bedroom walls covered with posters of Spandau Ballet, Culture Club, Wham...Ah, but I digress. Back to reality!Narrated from the point of view of Solène, a 39 year old art gallery owner, who embarks upon a secret relationship with 20 year old boyband member, Hayes. The chemistry between the two characters almost sizzles off the page, so hot I’m sure I could actually smell the paper burning! 🔥Set in some spectacular locations around the world - it’s well written and beautifully descriptive, I feel as if I’ve actually been on the journey in person. The book touches upon some interesting age related issues experienced by women, double standards for one: If a 39 year old man has a relationship with a woman of 20, no one bats an eyelid; yet when the roles are reversed, the same (sadly) does not always apply. In this day and age, why not?!The Idea of You is a thoroughly enjoyable, captivating love story. I really didn’t expect to cry, but I did - big, fat, ugly tears. A totally unputdownable, addictive read I eagerly devoured in two sittings.I appreciate that this book won’t be to everyone’s taste; it is hot and spicy, but it’s also heartbreakingly beautiful. If you’re looking for a perfect summer read, this is it!Thank you for taking the time to read my review.I hope you found it helpful.
