UPDATE: 4 months later...not so good
Very pleasantly surprised. I too spent hours looking for the right collar. "Monte" is our 120lb German Shepherd. 3 years old. We live on a semi busy road and so, we keep him on a leash walking him around our big yard. We considered the buried fence lines, wireless, etc; Was ready to spend over $200 on another brand here and read the reviews on this. It's easy to equate price with quality. You figure $70, how could it compare to the expensive ones? Of course, I have no first hand experience with the other brands. So, I bought this fully expecting to return it. The thought of our dear Monte running off or into a truck made me sick. Would it work? Read the small but, good manual. Charged everything up and put the collar on him. It's key to do as the manual says and keep the collar up near behind their ears. My wife took him outside with his normal leash hitched to his everyday collar. We walked him around and we sounded the tone at level 2. He immediately responded by looking back and trying to figure out what the heck that was! I then hit the vibrate button on level 2. He jumped a tiny bit but enough to let us know he was feeling it.Now the big moment. We took him off the leash. He never tried to bolt. We threw a tennis ball and he went after it. Free at last! I knew he was thinking this! He returned the ball and then a bird caught his eye. He tried to follow it into the thick brush out back. Semi running, not full speed. We said "No Monte!" and he hesitated a bit but kept going forward. So, the vibrate button was pressed once, on level 2. He stopped, turned around and came right to us! That not only got his attention but ours! Already I was thinking I made the right choice with this collar. The past few days have been great for us and Monte. He was already very smart and he longs to please us. It is such a pleasure seeing him run now. I used the shock just once. He tried to eat an old poop. Vibrate stopped him a little but he didn't drop it. The shock made him drop it immediately. We keep the collar and transmitter on a small table in the kitchen where it charges. He goes over to them when he wants to go out and nudges them. He sits patiently as we put the collar on. He doesn't equate the collar/receiver as punishment or pain. He sees it as freedom! Really! In just a few days we literally barely use the vibrate or any other of the options. Just the collar on him sends him the message. Now, Monte is indeed an intelligent dog. I've had Basset Hounds throughout my life and I've no doubt they would not respond the same way. They can be maddeningly stubborn (but loveable). YMMV of course but I believe if you follow the instructions and are patient, it'll work for your 4 legged pal.Call me a totally satisfied customer. I could easily spend $70 on a collar, leash and a few other goodies for Monte. This was the best money spent on him. Period.Ropri, you did this right. Thank you for making an affordable AND great product. I'd give 6 stars if I could.Update: Well, here it is about 4 months later. The unit has failed. The green light remains "on" on the receiver on his collar. It will not shut off and the unit is totally nonfunctional at this point.UPDATE: 3/17/17 Ropri contacted me about my issue. Apparently there was a glitch. I can totally understand this. Hey, things happen but, what will they do about it?I'm very pleased to report that they sent me the improved product. We just got 2 feet of fresh snow here. Two Feet. Monte was thrilled just to see the new receiver and collar. He's been having a ball. The receiver works perfectly. We are good to go Houston! How refreshing is it to see a company like Ropri respond to a customer and fix the problem? I'm very happy with this product. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's made a difference in our daily lives. Really. We don't have to go out at 10PM when, of course, our dogs simply HAVE to pee! I can put the collar on and stand on the porch! Yes! Monte loves the freedom. We feel we are doing our part to protect him from running off and perhaps getting hurt. Thanks Ropri.

Mini Pin mix = Stubborn
Our puppy repeatedly escaped past us and "defended" his block aggressively. We became very concerned someone would feel threatened by his behavior and he would be taken away. Training was (and is) helping but he needed reigning in NOW. We bought this device in hopes that he would respond positively and that it would improve his training. It has and we are very relieved that he can be quickly redirected and responds well to our commands now. The only issue I have with the device is that it doesn't show when it needs charging and there is no suggested charging schedule with the directions. We have not had the use the static shock more than twice. He responds very well with a combination of the beeper and vibration.

I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a quality product
Ordered this training collar since in the description it said it was waterproof and had a decent working range. When I received the package all the items were there and I followed the instructions. It works when you have the collar next to the remote, but if you get past 30 feet it wont even work at all. I know the range issue isn't from low batteries since I had just taken it off the charger. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a quality product. I have friends that spent $200-$300 on collars, but can send the signal for 300 yards no problem. Next time, ill just buck up, because you get what you pay for.

A solid three star product
It works good around the house. Once your outside though it doesn't do a thing over say 50' which is kind of a bummer as that's the other use I have for it (at the beach, in the bogs or just out doing things). I tried repairing it a few times - that procedure works flawlessly but it doesn't improve distance. Another plus is the battery - the auto on/off really extends the length of the battery. All in all a good product as a trainer. I just wish it had more distance from transmitter to receiver.

kindly explained that the two units I purchased so close together were likely part of a known bad batch that were shipped or man
I REALLY wanted to rate this product higher, and I tried to give this product a decent shot too. I actually tried out THREE different units, yet they all ended up failing. The first one I ordered back in early August 2016, and almost immediately the Collar Receiver started to fail to recharge (or be able to turn back on after showing a completed recharge). So, I returned that one to Amazon and ordered another, thinking it was just an anomaly. Well, then within a couple of weeks, the second unit failed in the exact same way. This time I posted a comment on Amazon about my experience with both units and was promptly contacted by the retailer/owner who, kindly explained that the two units I purchased so close together were likely part of a known bad batch that were shipped or manufactured from out of the country. He offered to make things right, immediately, and sent me a brand new unit directly from a separate "batch". Well, this one appear to do the trick (no pun intended)...for a while. After about 3 months, this third unit (supposedly manufactured from an entirely different batch and shipped directly from the seller/owner) malfunctioned in the exact same way - I would plug the Collar Receiver into the charging cord while the red LED light on it would indicate charging until the green LED light turned on next to it to indicate that it was charged. Then, once I unplugged the charging cord and attempted to turn on the Receiver....nothing. It could not turn it on again. Tried to recharge the unit again, and repeat, but still no go.Again, I really wanted to rate this product more highly because when it would stay charged it really worked well with my dog. I never even had to use the shock or vibrate modes...only the audible mode work wonders to control her (and on a very low setting too). If only the unit would recharge and turn back on again. Great idea, poor execution!!
