Before you balk at some of the other reviews, yes, they are German-made but assembled in China. Again, no issues with craftsmanship; assembly in China makes them affordable. So, one year in, they are still razor-sharp (we use cutting boards and never cut on china or ceramic), and no signs of wear and tear (we hand-wash so no etching or ther damage by caustic dishwashing detergents). A word of caution, these knives are so sharp that we have both been reminded more than once of how to properly handle a knife! But I have no complaints.
