It's the new generation of best-performing routers. I have paired this up with the Asus 86u as a mesh. This also contains additional VPN protocols if required and with the usage of quad cores, you will not see much of a speed degradation. I'm happy with the purchase. If you are on the fence between the AX86u and the BE, get the BE.

this is a great router and absolutely love the performance. I was skeptical regarding the bug that was mentioned by a few but later found out ASUS had already released a firmware fix to that. So far haven’t faced any bugs. WiFi performance and coverage is really good. Most of all WiFi7 with this price is great!

Bought this Router to increase the wifi range slightly, due to the default ISP (Du) router being inconsistent at a few corner locations in my apartment. This router ended up barely changing the connection strength in those locations at first, and has only gotten weaker as time has gone by. If you're looking for a boosted range, look elsewhere. Or better yet get a router mesh of multiple routers like I should have to begin with.

Very terrible router, Constantly disconnecting, sometimes the speed goes from 1000 to 100 until i restart the router. Everything was perfect before i installed this router.

Does a great job by directing traffic cleverly so that all devices keep good speeds. Nice to have 6ghz band for the few devices that can take advantage of it. Super easy setup and nice wall mount for clean mounting.

I bought this high-end router specifically for gaming, not so much for its WiFi performance. I currently have a cheap TP-Link AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Router, which has excellent WiFi 6 performance, but doesn't keep up when gaming online, e.g., Fortnite (where NAT translation must be fast for TCP and UDP packets to avoid delays). The ASUS RT-BE88U WiFi performance is excellent on newer devices (I got maximum download speed on my 600 Mbit/s ISP connection), but terrible on older devices, barely getting 100 Mbit/s. I could live with that since they'll be upgraded anyway. With its high-end specs: 2 GB memory, 4-core 2.5 GHz CPU, dedicated 2.5 GB gaming port, etc., I assumed it would be the best choice for online gaming where low latency, jitter, and ping time are crucial. Most importantly, the internal NAT translation must be up to speed. But when gaming, everything seemed fine at first, then it suddenly started losing connection to the local 2.5 GB gaming port, reconnecting after a second or so, which means "game over" for the current game session. Sometimes it wouldn't connect at all and a router reboot was required. And when the gaming port was working, there were packet losses. TL; DR (getting technical) I decided to do some tests with iperf3 in a closed environment (no internet), using wired connection, with the following setup: (Windows machine, client) → (ASUS RT-BE88U router) → (Lubuntu server) No NAT translation is involved in this test, because it is run on the local network, which eliminates that variable. I ran all kinds of tests with TCP and UDP, both uploads and downloads, and got packet losses, re-transmits, etc. What's going on? Is my local cabling all shot? So I decided to do a straight swap of routers (same setup except the router), using the TP-Link AX5400 router instead, and the figures speak for themselves. This test shows a UDP download at 100 Mbit/s for a period of 30 seconds, where the ASUS router lost 1.1% of the packets, while the TP-Link only lost 0.16%, all of them in the first second, which is normal for this kind of test. At this point I was done playing around with the ASUS router and decided: no more ASUS ever. Replaced an RT-3200 AC router which although was unsupported now - still worked well. Waited a couple of weeks before review as wanted a balanced study. Connected to a ONT provided by ISP and added to existing AiMesh. This router is a chunky router which has been working fine since installation. Pros: Easy to setup - has a wizard. Links to existing AiMesh system - but will suggest a drop in WPA level as if like me (you have a WPA2) it will have to drop for compatibility. Uses the same ASUS App (on mobile devices) to manage as previous ASUS router. Web interface is best and has more options available. Plenty of VPN options - OpenVPN, Wireshark etc. Also has propriety VPN called "Instant guard" but haven't had time to test as yet. Has VLAN options inbuilt for iOT isolation etc. Plenty to play with. Wifi range is pretty good, not massively better than previous but does seem to have more wifi options. Cons: Can still disconnect all clients when making some (non client related) changes - which is annoying but has occurred on all ASUS routers to date. One Amazon Kindle (2.4ghz) had issues connecting when AX was enabled on this router, unsure why but AX was disabled - as not currently using the 160hz stuff just yet anyway. I hoping a Firmware will fix this. Conclusion: A solid router (tested for over two weeks now) which is very similar to my old one however has a lot more grunt (4 core etc.) which has plenty of scope for network growth.

Vengo de un router muy sólido de gama media (el ASUS AX58U) que ha rendido genial durante años, pero con más de 30 dispositivos conectados en casa, necesitaba un salto de calidad. Tras probar este ASUS GT-BE92U, puedo decir que el cambio ha merecido la pena. Aquí os dejo mis conclusiones tras exprimirlo a fondo: ✅ Cobertura y Potencia: Sin ser "milagroso" (la física es la física y los muros existen), la mejora es notable. Donde el router anterior sufría para llegar, este llega con comodidad. Hay que recordar que una mejora de 3 dBm implica doblar la potencia de la señal, y este aparato lo cumple de sobra manteniendo la estabilidad en toda la casa. ✅ Diseño: A diferencia de sus hermanos mayores (como el BE98 o el futuro BE19000AI), que son auténticos "mastodontes" horizontales, este BE92U tiene un diseño vertical, alto y estrecho. Se acomoda mucho mejor en cualquier mueble sin ocupar medio salón. ✅ Asuswrt-Merlin: Una de las razones principales para elegir ASUS es el soporte de la comunidad. Este modelo es compatible con el firmware de Merlin, lo que le da una vida extra y funciones avanzadas que el firmware de stock no siempre aprovecha igual. Si te gusta "cacharrear" y tener el control total, esta es la opción ideal frente a otros WiFi 7 que vienen más "capados". ⚠️ La realidad del WiFi 7 y los 6 GHz: Este router tiene las tres bandas (2.4, 5 y 6 GHz), algo imprescindible para llamarse WiFi 7 "de verdad" (cuidado con otros modelos que son "mediopensionistas"). Eso sí, no os hagáis ilusiones falsas con la banda de 6 GHz: Vuela (literalmente) en la misma habitación o espacios abiertos, pero en cuanto cruzas un par de paredes, la señal cae. Es física. Mi configuración: Dejo la red IoT en 2.4 GHz y uso las bandas de 5 y 6 GHz para los dispositivos potentes. El router gestiona esta convivencia de maravilla. 🔧 Bug visual MLO: Si sois exigentes, os aviso de una "pijada" del firmware actual (tanto oficial como Merlin) relacionada con el MLO (Multi-Link Operation). El MLO es una tecnología nueva que a veces se lleva mal con dispositivos antiguos (en mi caso, provocaba inestabilidad en una TV). Si desactivas el MLO para ganar estabilidad (recomendado por ahora), verás un bug cosmético: los móviles WiFi 7 conectados pueden aparecer en la lista del router como "conectados por cable" o directamente no aparecer, aunque tengan internet y vuelen. Si activas el MLO globalmente, se arregla el icono, pero puedes perder estabilidad en otros aparatos. Mi recomendación: MLO desactivado. Prefiero estabilidad total a que el icono se vea bonito. Es algo que ASUS irá puliendo con actualizaciones. En resumen, comprado en oferta (Black Friday), me llegó la revisión de Hardware 1 (fabricada en 2025) y va perfecta, ignorad los rumores de foros sobre revisiones malas. Es un "bicho" muy serio, con puerto de 10Gbps y preparado para durar años. Si buscas estabilidad, firmware Merlin y WiFi 7 real sin irte a precios desorbitados, es el sustituto perfecto.
