Yukon Gear & Axle (SK 707068) Replacement Shim Kit for Dana 80 Differential

Well-made crush washer eliminator but did not work on my very early 9" ford. Not sure why but even with all the shims installed I still had about an eighth of an inch of play. Consulted with Yukon and I was installing correctly. Had to switch back to crush washer. Hopes of not having to deal with the crush washer and the huge amount of force required to set it was defeated.

I didn't know these were a thing. After doing some research and wanting to change the rear gears in my Chevelle, I knew I would need a crush sleeve. As I hate crush sleeves with a passion, I wanted to see options. This eliminator kit allows you to take your old sleeve, measure it, and then use shims to match the appropriate depth. After doing so, just bolt in the pinion and you are done (as long as there is no play). This makes it super easy to swap out in the future as well. No more trying to get 300ft-lbs of pressure on the pinion to crush the sleeve.

I broke the factory (cast) carrier shim during install so I ordered this. It worked perfect and I was able to get the exact thickness needed with plenty of shims left over.

Worked as it should, much better than a crush sleeve. Only complaint would be the lack of shim sizes in the kit .

If you work on rear ends.....gotta have them

Makes pinion bearing set-up easier and more reliable. Much better than crush sleeve.
