This book is out of this world
So this was a book recommendation, but if you wanna read a book with a true Power couple this is the book for you. It's got action it's got steam it's got a really good plot, It's a dark romance/mafia book at its best. Also there are tons of trigger warnings so please read them before reading this book. It also captures everybody's thoughts and feelings, so the book is not just about Liam and melody it's about other members of the family and what they are thinking at the time.

Far-fetched, crazy, completely OTT and hilarious
Liam Callahan is about to become the head of the family but first he has to marry and his bride-to-be is Melody Giovanni, they've never met and the marriage is an arrangement between families. Liam wants a wife who'll look good on his arm, someone he can control and dominate but boy is he in for a surprise.Melody is a mystery and she's certainly not what Liam's expecting, she's the Boss. While her father's dying of cancer she's been running the business and doing it well, she's earned the respect and loyalty of her men and she's not about to hand it over to a chauvinistic arrogant Irish man regardless of how hot and good looking he is.The first time Mel and Liam meet she's water boarding a prisoner and while the attraction between them is instant she's not giving into him so they fight, they want each other like crazy which annoys and frustrates her so she shoots him in the leg with his own gun, not quite what he was expecting from his fiancé and this sets the scene for the rest of the book after all she's not known as Bloody Melody for nothing. These two are cold and completely ruthless they'll kill anyone that gets in their way women and children included, no one is spared, they even kill in their pyjamas and I was hooked, it's addictive, entertaining and so funny. If someone would have described these two to me I couldn't imagine wanting to read their book and if I thought for a minute that this was a serious read and we were supposed to believe they actually do all this stuff then I couldn't have got through the book but it's fabulous, silly and OTT.This is the first book I've read by this author so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect but I have to say I never once considered this to be a serious realistic read, it's crazy and completely and totally OTT and not in anyway to be taken seriously and therefore it's hilarious, I mean seriously a doctor flirts with Liam and Mel is reaching for her knife to stab the woman when she's stood next to the police commissioner and surrounded by people, like I said crazy. They spend the first few days wanting to kill each other and just before they get married Liam says.."You look beautiful. See you at the alter and try not to flinch at the holy water.""I won't, if you won't" she replies. There's so many great lines and comebacks in this book I wouldn't know where to start but I loved when Declan is talking to Liam about Mel and says:"When she wakes up in the morning the devil curses.""We both do" replies Liam.I very rarely give 5* and I sometimes wonder if I'm being harsh but then a book like this comes along and it reminds me why.

Nice storyline but not for me
I love mafia romance but for me I didn't like the main characters at alland something they did was too ruthless and too far for me to then like them and want them to have a happy ending together won't be reading anymore of this series but would probably read something else from this author as the storyline was good

The mafia book you deserve
My least favourite crime trope is the "reluctant wife", this wife listens to her husbands's sins, pretends that she loves him enough to look over it, then remember ten years down the line that she is a "moral person" and can no longer live the life.Honestly, I find it to be boring and insulting to women. Imagine my joy when I picked up this book.Melody Giovanni is not the meek subservient wife, she is The Boss. Liam is next in line to be the head of the Irish Mob so long as he goes through with his arranged marriage to Melody. They are equals. Liam believes that Melody is just the daughter of the boss of the Italian Mafia and so assumes that she will just be a convenient participant of an arranged marriage rather than a counterpart. (Super feminist, I know)Melody and Liam's first meeting actually had me laughing out loud, it was so ridiculous - in a good way. Liam goes into the meeting with no real knowledge of who she is, or even what she looks like. All Liam can do is hope that Melody isn't ugly. He gets his wish, but she's also not as compliant as he'd hoped. Melody wants an equal partnership in the business, and honestly she deserves it.Like all books, this book has it's weak points but for me it's best quality, the quality that makes it a five star read is that Liam and Melody are on the same page. Even when a situation makes them both so angry they could kill the nearest person, they are the same person and it's beautiful to see.If Liam wants to kill someone, it's taken all of Melody's energy not to pull the trigger, and vice versa. Honestly, I kind of wanted them to adopt me.To end this review, I will use a quote that I think really sums up this book/series for the MCs:"Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." - Emily Bronte, Wuthering HeightsRecommend to: fans of NA books, fans of crime books, fans of high action romancesRating: 5 stars
