Can the 3oz hold Nespresso double espresso?

All depends. Some people consider a single espresso shot to be 1 oz while others believe it to be 1.5 oz. I am a double shot (2 oz), 3 times a day (my blood is mostly Café) and find these cups to do a great job. They were recommended by a friend and I'm so glad I took her advice. Does it keep coffee hot ?

The answer is that these cups are neutral in this regard. They have reasonably thick walls, which is good for keeping coffee warm. But there is a fairly large surface area of coffee exposed to the air. I usually put some boiling water in the cups before I make a cappuccino, pouring out the water when I feel the wall of the cup is nice and warm. (Professional espresso machines have a large warming area for the cups on top of the machine. So my hot water method is to achieve the same effect.) You just asked about keeping the coffee hot. But I will add that I love drinking cappuccinos from our set! (We got the dark blue color.)

Do the handles get hot when microwaved?

I gave these as a gift and those were the 4 ounce cups. Why would you microwave a cappuccino, it would ruin the taste of it? Possibly, put hot water in the cup for a few minutes before making it and that may help to keep it warmer.
