A great way to keep the warmth in on those cold New England days.
I've used this weatherproofing kit on our outer windows for at least the last 20-25 years. Our house was built in 1884 and breathes through the walls and windows each winter. This winterizing kit for windows makes a huge difference in our natural gas bill and the comfort of our house. It's fairly easy to apply once you've read the directions. I buy an extra roll of tape along with the kit to make double rows of tape so that there is enough to hold it on tightly. I learned that lesson the first year I used it. Also, you really do need to clean the surface well before applying it to make sure it stays on during Noreasters! Once you've applied it, the blow dryer should get rid of any wrinkles. I use prepackaged alcohol prep wipes to get all the dirt and oils off the surface before applying the tape. It doesn't cost much but I think of it as insurance to make sure it lasts through the winter. You should clean the outer glass panes before applying so you don't have to look through dirty windows all winter. I absolutely love this product and wouldn't go thru the winter without it. Linneaann

Worked for me
I didn’t buy this for a door but rather double windows that are larger than the window package 3M has. This product worked perfectly for the winter months! I didn’t expect it to stay flat as it’s normal for the plastic to become one big bubble when the barometric pressure in the atmosphere rises, so I left some slack in it when applying it. I also did two lines all around the window of the adhesive tape that comes with this item. Also - I attached it to the wall outside of the window, not the window pane as I felt this was better coverage and less likely to leak. One thing that I think most every one can agree on - I wish the adhesive was stickier! Had it not been for the two rows of the tape then it definitely would have come undone.

This does work! Great for Rv’s
First off the only reason this product does not get 5 stars is because there is not enough tape included in the package. The product itself is 5stars. We put it on our large Rv window last winter and it worked so well that we bought more and did all our windows. If you have ever been in an Rv during cold winter months you’ll understand how important this is. It allows natural light while keeping drafts away from the metal framed windows. It’s easy to put up and if you get it up tight it’s not unsightly. In the video you can see how nice it looks and also you’ll notice the black tape vs the white (included) tape. Also it cuts down the condensation (iykyk) greatly and ice formation on the glass panes. Save yourself a headache and buy extra tape before you start installing. We were lucky to have some on hand but boy I would have been super disappointed if we did not.

Recommend finding ways to keep cat away
worked well until my cat tore a hole in it. Recommend finding ways to keep cat away. Also, pull the plastic tight by hand because otherwise, the hair dryer can only shrink it so far. I stood outside with the hairdryer for a very long time and finally had to pull off the plastic to pull it taut and then restick it. It worked, even when having to stick it down the second time on the same tape. That worried me but was not a problem. Just that darn cat. Accidentally bought the Frost King brand and it was awful! cloudy and much less sturdy than the 3m brand. The tape too seems better quality than the Frost King. I'm changing my review from 4 to 5 stars.

So far it’s great!
I put this up last night and the tape already seems better then other brands I’ve used. It is very clear and I can’t tell it’s there when looking out the window. I did clean the boards so the adhesion would be as best as possible. They have a note in there about the plastic sheeting being stuck together and needing to use 2 pieces of tape to pull it apart. This is very true, you can’t even tell it’s folded it’s so seamless, so DO give that a try to open it fully. I start by adding the tape around the door first leaving the backing on, then unfold the plastic sheet and attach it to one tape side at a time. Pulling the backing off and sticking the plastic in increments as I go. This was very easy to pull of the tape and adjust when needed but still felt like it would stay sticking for a while.

Idea makes sense but in practice not great
Huge fan of the window ones but wouldnt recommend these patio door ones. Does require a patio door having an inch or two of woodframe extending further than your patio door for the bottom. Smaller margin of error compared to the window ones and need to get the bottom taping right or else it's trash.

This only works if there’s a few inches between the window and the plastic
This only works if there’s a few inches between the window and the plastic, this can’t sit directly on the glass it won’t do anything. You have to create space in between the window and the plastic for it to have that insulated feel. I bought this because the condensation on my windows would get really bad in the winter, but if you create insulation between the outside air and the inside air it can prevent the condensation.

Incorrect size. again.
I am very angry. I have used the 3M brand outdoor window insulation kit for several years. A couple years ago one of the kits film was shortened and I was able to return it to Home Depot. FWIW, the store employee thought I may have had a problem separating the last layer of film. While I assured him I was not inexperienced, I let him give it a shot. The film was faulty, and I left with a good kit. Now, this has happened again and unfortunately it's an Amazon purchase over 30 days old. I had already applied the tape, and peeled away the tape along the top of the opening and partially down the sides. That's when I discovered the film was the wrong size, and unfortunately the process was begun. Fortunately I had a different brand (Frost King) of the correct size that was going to be used for a different door. That went into over the area that the faulty 3M product was meant to go. I don't mind the money (so much), it's the annoyance. I love 3M, live in Minnesota and even owned stock in the company. But I'll never buy another 3M brand outdoor window insulation kit again. I would note they have really improved the usability of the tape, it separates from the backing so much easier than it used to. So, 5 stars for the tape and 0 stars for the undersized product.

Condition was unusable- frustrated!
One out of 2 packages was completely unusable because the plastic was fused together and although we've used these products for years without any problems, these ones keep coming off. The sticky tape condition was compromised. Have had to order more of the window kits (and pay significant shipping) but hope they arrive in better shape or next time we'll try a different product or order from elsewhere.

Terrible, received an open package, missing parts and definitely not as described
This was the worst item I have ever purchased online. The box had been opened there was no tape in the box, and it certainly was not the item as described. It was a scrumpled up sheet of plastic that was even cut to size. Ib think someone just put a random piece of plastic in the box. Absolutely disgraceful.

Excelente producto
Excelente producto, lo usé durante todo el invierno y repele el aire frío por las orillas de las ventanas. Cuando se acabó el invierno lo quité con precaución y lo volveré a usar en el próximo, el material está en perfecto estado.

the best!
Excellent item for insulating your windows. Clear, and draught protective, and will last for a number of years, should you wish to leave it up.

Buen producto y solución temporal
Excelente producto, solo no trae suficiente cinta doble cara. Cumplió con lo esperado. No deja entrar el polvo, aire y ayuda a que el frío no entre... no es totalmente hermético pero ayuda.
