Small light, Big impact.
Love this light. Takes multiple batteries so if I get to recharge my CR123's or use the fresh ones for my weapon lights, it will take the alternative battery. I keep plenty of those disposable in my Range Bag. Perfect fit in the pocket, and great size in the hand. Tailcap button is programmable for function and easy to use. Don't really use the forward style portion of the clip (hat mount), but everything about it is spot on for the price.

Convenient, simple, long battery life
I got this light because it uses batteries, NOT usb charging. I occasionally visit places without electricity (or convenient outlets even if they do have it), and can stock up on batteries for long power outages. Relying on usb charging would be silly if thinking about prepping. The CR123 battery gives 40 lumens for 14 hours and 350 lumens for 1 1/2 hrs. I've used mine for three weeks, just briefly each day bringing in firewood from the shed or checking the shop, and on a 5 day trip to a monastery in the mountains with no electricity where I used it more heavily in the early mornings and evenings. Still on the first CR123 battery. The lithium AA battery gives the same 40 lumens for the same 14 hours and 150 for 4 1/2 hours. 40 lumens is plenty for most of my uses but when I need more light, 350 is significantly more power. This light is small enough that I keep it clipped in my back pocket all day every day and it's not noticeable. It comes with low, blinking, and high settings, but you can change that easily, which I did, to get rid of the blinking and just have low and high, which are easily accessed: one click for low, one flash (not click) on and off and back on again for high. I think this is the best general use EDC flashlight I've ever had and I intend to get get a couple more to have around and as gifts. [edit] After another month of steady use of the Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA, I *highly* recommend this light. It's small enough to be conveniently carried clipped in the back pocket, powerful enough (low and high) to be useful in almost all situations, simple enough to adjust to settings that are most useful, and long-lasting enough to be extremely thrifty, AND it doesn't rely on the electrical grid but takes batteries (CR123, AA lithium, or AA alkaline) which are easy to carry as backup and last a LONG time with normal use. I've been using this light for almost two month, just brief use each day and am still on the first battery. It's shockproof and waterproof (or highly water-resistant), has a great cap clip (I use that feature all the time and it works beautifully as it's not too heavy for a ball cap), and the on-off clicker on the end-cap requires just the right pressure, unlike others I've had. This is easily the best ECS light I've ever had. Did I say that before? I should have said it in caps. Did I also mention that I highly recommend it? Yeah, I do. You will not regret getting this light. Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA

Absolutely Phenomenal.
This is a great light. It is competitively priced and is a nice size for pocket carry in men's jeans. I wear a slimmer cut pants (not skinny jeans lol) and there is no noticeable bulge in my pocket. The unboxing experience was plesant. Packaging was about standard, and was well put together. The light came with 1 CR123A (more about this later), 1 AA, the light (duh?), a pouch, and a wrist strap. I pocket carry this light only so I haven't used the pouch yet but it could be useful for storing things in and seems to be of good quality. Pros: Quite bright, with a nice balance between distance and width. The light can easily reach 200 ft or so while having a wide enough beam to provide good peripheral visibility. Durable (so far). I have already dropped it several times on concrete and other than a few scratches it works like a champ, although I expected this. The hat clip feature is useful. It is worth noting that the part of the clip contacting the bill of the hat is rounded over so it won't damage the front edge of the hat. Nice touch! The pocket clip is nice and sturdy, and I haven't had any issues with it sliding around or falling out throughout the day. The feature to be able to use AA batteries is awesome. I prefer to use a CR123A in order to achieve the full brightness, however it is very nice to have the option should I not have any CR123As on hand or if I don't feel like wasting the more expensive battery on a less demanding task. I imagine this feature would be very nice while camping or doing other things as AAs are far more prevalent and cheaper than CR123As. The tail switch is extremely easy to actuate while not turning on in my pocket easily. Strobe is also very easy to actuate (double tap). The end of the flashlight, near the bezel, is flattened on several sides so the light won't easily roll around. This is a nice detail. The lens and the glass (I believe it is acrylic of some sort) is recessed which is nice as it won't scratch or become damaged as easily. Cons: I would have liked for the pocket clip to carry a little further down in my pockets, as almost the entire screw on tail-cap portion sticks out. Although as long as you don't care about it being super concealed (it is just a flashlight after all) I can usually just tuck my shirt over it and it isn't much of an issue. I wish there was a way to possibly program the light to go High > Low > Strobe by single, double, and triple tapping. Currently, it is setup as High > Strobe > Low, and I find that I have to press it up against my clothing while actuating because the strobe function will turn on momentarily while switching to low which is quite blinding, especially when you need a lower amount of lumens to begin with. Not really a con, but the battery that came with the flashlight died very quickly, within the span of 1 week with not much use. However, I ordered a pack of 2 CR123As with the flashlight and the battery life of those are much improved. I have had the same battery in for about a month now with with moderate use and have had almost no visible reduction in lumens. Both of these cons are more nitpicks than anything. I very much enjoy this light, and can't wait to see how it holds up over time.

This flashlight should be your EDC
This is my EDC flashlight, bar none. Small enough to carry in a front pocket or as I often carry it, clipped inside the pocket of my cargo pants. The hat clip is indispensable for providing hands free illumination on the go. It has literally replaced my usual headlamps for hands free lighting. This flashlight's greatest strength is that it takes disposable CR123A or AA batteries. In the past I bought numerous rechargeable LED lights but have come to find out they are limiting in their usefulness. If you are out and about and the light dies on you, you are stuck until you have time to wait for a recharge, if you even have a place to recharge it. And rechargeable batteries are always low or drained out when you need them most. During hurricane Helene we were without power for 4 days, and I used it constantly to see my way around a darkened house clipped to the brim of my hat. I only needed to carry a spare battery in my pocket. When the battery ran down I had it back up and running in the time it takes to swap out the old one. While AA batteries only work on the lower lumens level, you can find AA batteries everywhere, and everyone has them, so your light will always have power when you need it. Talk about versatility. You can reprogram the light so it comes on low first, then bright on the second click, which is what I did. The lower lumens setting provides longer battery life and plenty of illumination for most purposes and I don't have to double tap to get it to low every time I turn it on. Perfect. Given the size, the availability of replaceable batteries (a must for me now), its durability, clip utility and 10 tap programmability, this would have been the exact flashlight I would have designed if someone gave me a clean slate to work with. I never leave the house without it.

Very nice flashlight, with a few quibbles
I bought this as a lightweight option to mount on my home defense firearm. It's a lot smaller than I was expecting, and lighter, too. I will be buying another for dedicated EDC pocket carry. I'm taking a star off for a few quibbles that bug me. First, the pros. This thing is a lot smaller than I anticipated. That was a majorly pleasant surprise. Being more compact, it's also a lot lighter. Given this is mounted on my firearm, I'm definitely a fan. There are times when I like my lights to have some heft, but firearm mount is not one of them. Another major (and obvious) pro is the option for two different kinds of batteries. I personally use the CR123 option for the firearm as it's brighter, but with pocket carry I'm more inclined to use an AA lithium battery for the longer life. It's nice to have that kind of flexibility either way. There are not a lot of flashlights out there that give you multiple options in terms of how you power it. The cons (for me). The tail cap switch is mildly infuriating, in terms of trying to get the light turned on to the setting I want. The first day or two I kept doing full clicks trying to get to the low brightness setting, or even the strobe, but could not for the life of me do anything more than just turn it on or off. It wasn't until several days later and finally googling the flashlight to find out you do a rapid "half-click" either twice (for strobe) or three times (for low brightness), with the last half-click actually being a full click to set it. So, you'd do a single full click for full brightness, half-click full click for strobe, or half-click half-click full click for low brightness. You think that sounds complicated? Wait until you actually try to do it. Either I'm horribly uncoordinated or slightly on the low end of the IQ scale, because it was maddeningly infuriating to attempt my various combinations of half-clicks and full clicks before I'd finally end up on the setting I was going for. After all those attempts, I've decided I'm good with just a single full click to turn it on, on the HD gun. The second quibble is the price. I paid about forty bucks for the light, only a few dollars more than either the CR123-only version or the AA-only version. That in and of itself is not a terrible price to pay for a decently bright flashlight. My issue is, this is not the only flashlight I've ever bought in my life. And there are others out there that are the same quality, but with far more features, for only a few bucks more in price. Granted, they're also bigger and heavier with longer run times on their batteries, but I'm having a hard time reconciling the price/value balance of this light, when I try it out alongside those. Again, those quibbles are just me, and my own subjective biased opinion. Your mileage may vary. At the end of the day, I like it enough that I'm buying another one, and I'd gladly recommend the light to friends and family.

Great every day carry light
This is my third Streamlight Protac 1L-AA light in the last 5-6 years. All provided very good service in every day carry. First two were still functional when retired but looked terrible so they were given away. Not much to say other than the ability to use CR123 or AA batteries makes for easy to find battery replacement. Switch is well made, the pocket clip works well. Not sure what else to discuss, the LED bulb throws a decent amount of light especially with CR123 battery. My go to every day carry flashlight

Small, compact and powerful.
Used daily. Always works. Have traveled in planes with it multiple times. High beam small enough for hand held. This is an amazing product you end up using it often. Plus if you do get into an altercation, your all good ๐

Awesome bright little light
I've owned a Streamlight for many years - the bigger version, which is heavy and a bit awkward to run out for something - my yard gets quite dark at night. This little light is fantastic, super bright and casts a wider beam so you can see around the angle of the light. It's lightweight, perfect size in the hand, has a great little carry pouch if you need it, and ladies this is perfect for a purse sized option. We all need to be aware of our surroundings these days. And let's face it most regular flashlights suck, or are so cheaply made they barely cast any light. Not helpful on a dark street or parking area. My only thing is that when using the CR123 batteries they don't last long. I would say that the estimate of 1.5 hours on high is likely about right, so even running in and out for a few minutes a day (for the dog) it burns that battery quickly. Stock up on these batteries if that's your preferred choice or have your AA stock on hand if that is your preference. It is worth it. Thank you to the awesome and helpful review on fake models. Much appreciated that you took the time to write such detailed examples. I checked mine immediately and it's genuine.
