Each cuisine/country she explores is illustrated with poetry, music, history and anecdotes of her experiences. The recipes are not too complex and all chosen because Matthews actually cooks them herself. She gives you variants if you want vegan or vegetarian options and tips on how to serve and what to drink with things. This book is like a brilliant conversation with someone you meet in a pub and end up talking to for about six hours. Wonderful.

Loved this book - read it in two days. It combines travelogue with cooking and poetry and really works. The music selections by country are a brilliant idea. Amazing this seems to be a format no one else came up with. Thanks, Cerys Matthews, for a great book that brings back memories of lots of the places I have lived in and visited.

I love Cerys, love her music show on bbc6 music, love her take on life. So thus book with fantastic stories, recipes is a total joy to use. I do cook 0ften from it, lots of vegetarian options, or adaptions for me. Easy cook recipes, not fancy expensive ingredients. Tons of tips and great music choices, facts, knowledge with this book too. Highly recommended to buy it. Just because its such a feel good, useful book. I find myself re-reading the history, recipe facts of each country, looking at photos, pictures, re-making recipes a lot. Worth every penny, great gift item, or indulgence buy

A beautiful coffee table type book, being a mix of travellers tales by a musician, recipes (mostly vegetarian) and poetry. A glimpse into Cerys Mathew's life. An ideal gift.

Really nice looking cover makes you want to pick it up and read it. I started reading it the day it arrived and didn’t want to put it down. I’m really looking forward to cooking the recipes and listening along with the music choices.
