Sebastião Salgado: Amazônia

I bought this book for my father who is a dr and is old and has travelled the world and has been to the amazon a few times. He loves it! He is so pleased with the photographs and the depth this book covers. He wishes there was more animals in it, and he understand it is about the vegetation. He is going to ask the publisher if he can quote a part of it in his book he is writing. Ya so it's the best thing ever!!!

Hermoso trabajo fotográfico, es un viaje por la selva de Brasil y sus indígenas. Cada foto es impresionante y hermosa. Sebastian nunca me a defraudado con su trabajo, y este demuestra que esta totalmente vigente. La calidad de la impresión es excelente, el formato y tamaño es ideal. Hay una cantidad enorme de fotos, todas en blanco y negro con el inconfundible estilo del maestro.- No tengo más palabras que decir maravilloso trabajo. Vale cada dólar sin duda.

I have a fairly large number of photography books, including all of Salgado's. This is the best book I have ever purchased! It is the result of years of effort by Salgado with the assistance of the Brazilian Army, the state's indigenous people agency, interpreters, etc. Salgado's team in Paris is large and highly skilled. Individual photographs from the book are available from ten to forty thousand dollars, but if you don't have that kind of money, purchase this spectacular book and you'll spend hours pouring over the great photos and fascinating text.

This is a great book with outstanding photos and a lot of information about the indigenous people.There are several blank pages in the book that I think could have been used for pictures.I also wish, the captions would be right under the photos instead of at the end of the book. Having to move back and forth makes it a bit tedious, especially since this is a large and heavy book.But the photos are well worth it!

This book should inspire greater commitment to preserve the remaining Amazon rain forests and their Indigenous peoples. May it be so!

as fine work as ever

I have many of Sebastião books and everyone is stunning. What sets Amazônia apart is his photos of the Amazon's indigenous and remote tribes: mesmerizing faces.

Incredible images and plenty of them, this book is huge not only in size but content. It would grace anyone's bookshelf or library. What seems at first to be a costly purchase it soon becomes apparent that it is excellent value for money given that Salgado is a renowned photographer, explorer and author. The images of the Amazon area bring you closer to the people who inhabit it, a beautiful book that you will go back to time and again.

A rare photography book where you have to look at it in small doses as it's just so packed with beautiful content. Beautifully bound and printed. Worth every penny.

Stunning and brilliant work by the master of documentary photographers. A truly magnificent achievement showing the effort and care that Salgado has put into his life’s work.

Everyone should have this book, look at it often and you will realise the human being is very small!
