Inevitable: Stonewood Billionaire Brothers Series

Round and round
Before buying this book I looked at the reviews and saw mostly five stars, and now after reading it I wonder if I read the same book as those people. I don’t even know where to start other than that the main characters in this book just weren’t likable. The author tries so hard to make Brey seem like she was so confident and didn’t let others control her. However, the second Jax came into a scene all he had to do was give her a command and after a second of arguing she would just give into him. Jax himself was controlling and possessive, which I expected after reading the sample and reviews. I usually don’t have a problem with this and it can make a book great, but it just didn’t work in this book. I think it was because I just couldn’t feel the emotions between the main characters. The whole book all they did was argue then have sex then argue then have sex this repeated at least eight times. I felt no real chemistry between the characters other than when the characters themselves kept saying how much chemistry they had. I found myself getting angry as the book went on because just when it seemed as though Brey would stand up for herself she would end right back with Jax who she had already spent six whole years moping over. The cycle would then start again. Brey’s friends, for some reason I couldn’t figure out, also encouraged her to give Jax chance after chance while knowing all the pain he had caused her.Overall, I wouldn’t say this book is bad. I had no problems with the writing style other then a few times when they said Jay instead of Jax. I also really liked the side characters especially Rome and Jay. The main problem is in the plot itself; it just dragged on for so long for an ending that was pretty predictable. After how good the sample was I had higher hopes for this book. A book that I usually would have finished in two or three days took me weeks to finish because I lost all interest in the story. In all honesty, I only finished the book because I had already spent the money on it.

So immature
DNF. The guy dumps her as a teenager. Then comes back and plays on her heartstrings trying to get her to take him back and she's too stupid to stand up to the abusive behavior he does the whole time he's trying this. The yo-yo-ing back and forth is so repetitive, that by 40% I just couldn't anymore.

Not quite my fave, but am invested in this series.
After reading Heart of a Monster, I couldn't wait to get to Shain's backlisted books. And I had no idea that the New Reigh Mafia Duet was a spin-off of sorts from the Stonewood Brothers series. It was a pleasant surprise to see Katie and Rome pop-up and I was just eager to learn more about everyone from their lives.I was Team Aubrey from beginning to end, you can't deny the connection that she had with Jax. But for the life of me couldn't really come around to him at all. As much as I wanted to, I couldn't quite get on-board with him. I was debating if he ever felt any remorse for how he treated her.Their reconciliation felt a little to easy for me, but I forever want that HEA and we got it. Regardless of my feelings about Jax, I quite enjoyed Shain's style of writing and I can't wait to get to Jett's book!

A bit repetitive
I'm not the biggest fan of this story. I liked the premise of it, but the execution was what threw me off. I liked the idea of including representation of Native women in the story and I thought that was well down. However, a part from that, I didn't like all too much. The main character Brey is a bit wishy-washy for my liking. She goes from being strong and opinionated to meek and timid. She honestly needs a bunch of therapy. Jax isn't any better. He always comes off as being mean, even when he's trying to be "nice." I didn't like it. Now, I have no positive feelings for the secondary characters apart from one. Katie was good most of the time, though she did have some drawbacks. The others were just garbage. Vick is terrible, ditto for Roman. They were extremely selfish and didn't ever say anything good to Brey when she needed help. They just judged her with no support.Maybe you'll like it better. It just wasn't for me.

Character development
I’m really big on character development in books and I don’t know what I truly truly that here. I read the second book first and then stumbled across this one about three months later and I decided to try it…. Idk how I feel though. I wanted her to be stronger, these people coddled her and while Jax gave her strength.. I wanted her to have it on her own. We would have moments where I loved her strength and then times where it went away. I still don’t know what Jax talked to the boys about on the Ferris wheel that got everyone on board with him. One thing I will say… I LOVED LOVED LOVED JAY!! I loved him in the second one but this one?! I just loved him.. his devotion.. his love to her best friend no matter what?! I loved him! He’s definitely my favorite character. I also felt like it was just a LOT to take in… as much as I am starting to loathe series, I would have been okay with this being two books even if they were just about 240-250 pages each simply because It would have been easier to digest… this was just a lot to try to retain. Overall, it keeps your attention and its a decent book, the author can write amazingly. I don’t like ending books with questions though and I still have quite a few, I don’t like the back and forth they did over and over… I would have liked to see more of their growth here… then I would’ve understood the need for marriage… also the Rome thing? Just weird… one minute we’re sleeping with him, then he’s my fake bf, then he’s saying we can’t do this anymore, then he’s saying he loves me… then he’s cool with Jax after hating him? We never got any answers about why either or him and Katie.

Ok: written fairly well but repetitive and lacked communication
I really wanted to like this book: the grammar and word choices were great. However, I had to force myself to finish it, and struggled to do that multiple times. The book became incredibly repetitive, with them fighting the same fights and then using sex to ignore fixing it. Never once did they actually communicate, and never did they show any signs of anything healthy within the relationship. It was a bully story with no redemption arc masquerading as a fated love.

So glad it's over
Wow, this book was agonizing ! It could have been a 100 pages shorter and it would still be too long. I tried to get into the story, to connect with the characters but they were so annoying with their constant over thinking about EVERYTHING. And honestly I really don't get why would Brey be so upset about the whole trust fun. Pure frustration

This was my first read from this author and I loved it! Sooooo much angst and plot twists galore. Loved the relationships between all the characters and definitely looking forward to reading more
