Facts, Fashion & Fun
I read this a few days ago and honestly, I’ve been refashioning old sweaters ever since. This book was such a fun and refreshing read. I’ve taken up a lot of new hobbies in quarantine, but all have proven to be quite expensive… with the exception of the one inspired by this book. With everything going on in the world today, I think sustainable fashion is the way the go. Too many of us spend a lot of money on clothes that we’ll only wear a handful of times before tossing them aside. Overconsumption and waste has become such a huge problem so I appreciate this book as not only a useful resource for the frugal and fashionable, but also for the minimalist and environmentalist out there. Wear, repair and repurpose!I just love the way Rochelle explains things in this book. This was a very fun read and one can really tel that Rochelle is every passionate about the subject matter. Enthusiasm oozes off the pages. I especially liked the references used throughout the book, particularly those that highlighted various styles of dressing. It was very informative and I found myself thinking of all the ways I could experiment with my clothes to see which styles suited me best. I also liked how instructive this was in helping me to grasp the basics of color coordinating, accessorizing and developing an overall aesthetic.Rochelle will singlehandedly revive/ignite a love for clothing, fashion and style in you with this book. It's perfect for persons looking to upcycle old clothes or unleash their inner designers on a budget.5 out of 5. Would Recommend.

Not for me
I was hoping I would get more sewing techniques. I love upcycling old or used clothes but it was just about to look for at the thrift stores. Most of the book was about styling for younger women. As a 61 breast cancer survivor the cropped examples won't work for myself.

Neat
Random pick of the week… ‘Revive Your Ugly Clothes! Upcycling, Refashioning, Reusing, Recycling Old & Outdated Clothing: Remake Your Wardrobe from Your Own Closet & Thrift Stores - Define Your Unique Style & Save Money!’ by Rochelle Richards. A mouthful I know, but a short and overall interesting read. This brief reference book touches base on different styles: California girl, grunge (where my 90s babies at?!),preppy, streetwear, vintage, and more. It also included photos of different clothing styles that gave me major flashbacks of how I dressed as a teen. All in all, the title of the book pretty much sums up this read. Neat ideas on how to recycle and reused old clothing that may be out of style or need a little DIY fix to make it your own.

Cute and clever
Pandemic or not, the ability to invent and upcycle when it comes to fashion speaks to thrift, resourcefulness, and of course, style. Not a bad set of skills to have in your back pocket, so to speak. The author describes several popular “looks” and provides direction on how to be inspired by them without breaking the bank. The book features lots of clever ideas and smart fixes to recycle and improve various clothing items and outfits, as expected. Beyond saving money though, it’s really something fun to take pride in when you can bring new life to anything one might otherwise chalk up as trash. When we think creatively and put intentional touches into our appearance, it seems we carry ourselves with more confidence. So there’s extra joy to be had when you can stylishly flaunt your budget-friendly and inspired ensembles. Helpful and relatable. This is worth a read now more than ever, but still relevant anytime.

Great Ideas for Recreating Your Wardrobe
This book has great ideas on how to update your wardrobe using clothes you already have or can buy on a budget. I love that she encourages you to embrace your own style whether it be streetwear, preppy, grunge, etc. while showing you how to make the look work for you. Pictures are included along with a quiz in case you haven't figured out what your particular style is or just want to see what style it recommends. The author teaches you how to crop shirts, tie dye clothing and add rips to your jeans. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to revamp their clothing.

90's grunge is her thing.
Well long story short her style is not my style and her ideas are not really plus size friendly. Its mainly pairing and making crop tops and ripped high waisted jeans. She does talk a little on different styles but not much but mainly refers to 90's grunge type style.

Great book!
During these dire times, anything we can do to save a little money and have fun doing it is a winner for sure! I am delighted when I saw this book, as I like most others have a closet full of clothing that is "old" or out of style. I must say the author opened my eyes and gave me a few great ideas as to how I can restyle a few of them and wear them again. This a great and very helpful book.

A lot of waffle with very few instructions
From the description, I expected this book to be a guide to how to choose, alter and refashion clothes from charity shops or my own wardrobe. What I got was a flimsy book, full of waffle with poor quality pictures. It's literally a stream of consciousness with the occasional 'tip' thrown in (cropped t-shirts can be made by cutting a section of the bottom - who knew?! Ripped jeans can be made by, you guessed it, cutting holes in them!) There are no actual instructions of how to alter clothes in any meaningful way and the pictures are in black and white and so dark it's difficult to see what they're actually of. I will be returning this for a refund.

Misleading title
Bought this book thinking it would be full of up cycling ideas for old clothes . In fact it advises how to put old clothes together for a new look.
