Quality tool
A must have for external lock rings. Seems built well enough that it could be used to forcefully spread things apart if needed.

Did the job perfectly
First of all, you can tell by the feel that these are a well-made pair of pliers. I needed them to remove the retainer clips from a 99 4Runner axle. The pen style retainer pliers that I had on hand just would not do the job. I struggled for about an hour trying to remove just one clip, did some research, and discovered these pliers. After they arrived, I was able to remove the rings in a matter of seconds. Well worth the price to reduce the aggravation. I would say that I would order them again, but the way these are made, they will probably last longer than I will.

Feel Like High Quality
Haven't had a chance to use these yet but they feel like a high quality tool. Bought for a CV axle rebuild project. Should work nicely.

Very well made
Very pleased with these. Still made in the US and very well ground and finished. Inside surface of the jaws is pretty flat and parallel, just a very minor gap (really good for a forging). I wish they made a pair of these just a big smaller for off-label hobby/utility use. Decided to get these over the pretty-good Titan model and it was definitely worth the extra cost, really quite a good value.

Great Pliers - BUT could not remove my Snap Ring
I bought these for the specific purpose of removing a snap ring from the starter gear on a Tecumseh Snow King electric starter. There is a special tool made for this but it is expensive and not useful for anything else. I will probably never need to remove that ring again so this seemed to me to be the wrong move. Unfortunately, these pliers were a little bit too large for that ring. This is one of the drawbacks of buying online, sight unseen. However, they are very sturdy and well made so I am sure I will get plenty of use from them over time. It is not the fault of the pliers and I do not have buyer's remorse. I am glad I have them in my tool arsenal.

Smooth and powerful
I bought these for a slip yoke eliminator install on a jeep. There are some pesky retaining rings with no holes for standard snap-ring plyers and these worked great. There is a knurled finish on the blades that held the clips well and the long handles give you a lot of power for thicker rings. Overall I am very happy with this tool, it made what could have been a frustrating experience very easy. These seem to be well made and I am very happy with them.

Solid tool
Solid set of lock ring pliers and made in USA. Replacing a 40 year old hand me down smooth face set that caused their share of cursing from flying lock rings over the 15 years I’ve had them. I can’t believe I suffered this long over an inexpensive tool. The slot and texture hold the ends of the lock ring tight. Like other reviews the grips don’t appear to be dipped and are loose at the top but are on snug where it matters. If you’re concerned with form over function I’m sure you can find some rose gold ones with tight fancy handles to put next to your nail polish. For me these are doing just fine on transmission and t case jobs.

GET THIS TOOL!!!
I don't know why I messed around for so long! These snap ring pliers do exactly what they claim they'll do and these pliers work great! I had a cheap version of snap ring pliers that used interchangeable heads and it was always a pain to use. The Stanley pliers are great. The grooves at the tip help to hold the edge of the snap ring perfectly. What used to take an agonizing 5 minutes to wrestle the clips off now take seconds. Definitely worth the few dollars spent for the time savings and frustration savings alone!
