I have used this in my 20 gallon parts washer on steel auto parts with great success. When I cleaned my aluminum bell housing it turned the entire surface very dark gray even after washing with water as per the instructions. After drying the only way I could return it to the unfinished aluminum color was with a wire wheel. It also left a hard silvery residue on the machined surface to which the transmission attaches that I couldn't remove and left the surface no longer flat. In addition, it left a hard silvery residue inside my entire parts washer that looked like coagulated aluminum shavings, that had hardened and bonded to the surfaces. Some could be removed even with a putty knife but much couldn't. It also coated the washing brush and handle with hard aluminum shavings that couldn't be removed from the bristles. In summary, I had to buy a new bell housing and the parts washer is damaged beyond repair.
