Foldables -- Princesses, Ponies, Mermaids and More!: Never-Ending Fun to Color, Fold and Flip (Dover Kids Activity Books: Fantasy)

This is a good project for kids older than the pictures will appeal to. The pictures are very preschool/lower elementary in appearance, but much too complicated for young children to want to color. I brought one for a six year old girl I babysit. The coloring overwhelmed her and I had to help. I had to leave before the coloring was done, so I assembled it for her before I left. As it turned out, one of the images SHARED A FACE with another image when folded. We were coloring girls of various skin tones. Had we not accidentally discovered that two pictures shared a face, we would have had a strange princess, indeed, with brown arms and a pink face! The adult ends up doing all the work. I'd say 10 - 12 is the sweet spot for the coloring and assembling, but 4-8 is the sweet spot for the actual illustrations.

You will probably never see another craft like this - fun and easy (once you figure it out - the initial foldable was confusing and I will admit we looked up a video tutorial to complete the first one). You can't beat this for the price - I think we had them all completed in my house in a few days!

Not only are the colorable images so adorable, clean and clear, they fold in multiple, amazing ways that will blow your mind with fun!!!The very first time I saw a "Foldable" demonstrated, I knew I HAD to get it and I'm tickled every time I finish one. They really make fun, unique gifts, too!I enthusiastically recommend this book to everyone!

I just love these precious little cards you can make. I think children will just love them. The cards are just so unique, but so adorable, too. I'm an eighty-five year old great-grandma, and make them for nieces and nephews, and also friends and neighbor children, they just love them.

With Summer break coming up I was looking for activities my kids could do to keep them busy and have fun. This is a definite hit with them! They love it they are easy to put together and the options are endless!

This is quite complicated. Suitable for an 8 + yr old who is very good at colouring in.

I like these folding items but I wish they gave you a choice of already colored and uncolored.

The images are very detailed and so small they are hard for younger kids to color. Good for older kids with good coloring skills.

Une fois que l'on a compris le montage de ces cartes, c'est un vrai bonheur. J'ai fait 2 modèles, car J ai acheté les 2 livres garçons et filles pour l'école. Le résultat est bluffant. Je colle les angles avec de la colle en stick. J ai photocopie les modèles sur du papier 120 g, ce qui permet d'utiliser toutes les techniques souhaitées. Ceci étant dit le papier du livre est de bonne qualité. Les dessins sont variés. Je trouve que cela pourrait être un beau cadeau pour un enfant, si l'adulte lui explique la découpe et le collage, qui ne sont pas compliqués.Par contre, le coloriage est long et demande de la patience...J ai aussi acheté ces livres pour soutenir cette artiste. Merci.

I really liked the idea of these books, but am quite disappointed on many accounts. Firstly I tried using felt pens but the colour seeped through the page to the other side making it difficult to colour over. Secondly as an Adult I found the colouring very intricate, which I like,and the folding instructions not particularly easy to follow. My main concern is that these books are aimed at children but i think even 9,10 11 yr olds would get bored by the intricate colouring and would need adult help to complete each page. Its such a shame because they are lovely books.

Fab book if your child enjoys a bit of colouring and crafting. Lovely pictures. Bit complicated at first with the cutting and sticking. I went and looked at the website mentioned in the book for a bit of help but it was straightforward after I got going. My 7 year old daughter managed to do one herself after I helped her. Very satisfying make, magical transformation at end!

Manja Burton is part of a group I follow on Facebook. She showed us the prototypes for the Foldables in this book and I thought they looked really good. I bought the book for my two little nieces to play with. It's lovely and would make a great gift.
