The Textile Industry in North Carolina: A History

This is a definitive history of textiles in NC. I ordered three copies for the team to use in preparation of a museum exhibit. The book is well indexed with a worthwhile bibliography.

Very narrow view of North Carolina textile industry. My feeling was the person that wrote the book was never associated with the industry.

Literally its nice and glossy! Every page! More good - it's a fair and interesting summary of North Carolina Textile history and the author does not pretend this is more than an introduction. The bad - well it's only 100 pages and really seems more like an extended pamphlet than a book. And it is written in 1992. There is also little treatment of the why North Carolina took over textiles in this country which is really similar in my mind to the why China has now taken over. If you (like me) have any family history in North Carolina or in textiles - you can give this an extra star.
