These are pretty good headphones with a few niggly flaws that ought to spoil them, but don't.Things I like:The sound quality is rich and meaty, with surprisingly deep bass, a smooth mid-range delivery, if a little overwhelmed by the lower frequencies, and silky high-frequency reproduction. They sound more expensive than they are, and if you want a good bang for your buck, these are a great buy. They are not hard work to listen to at all, and frankly, are much better than I expected. Yeah, they start to reveal their budget roots when the going gets tough with demanding music at volume, but I don't care. They are genuinely enjoyable to listen to music with.The cable is a little over a metre long, and as a flat cable, it is a little more resistant to tangling than the normal round cables. There's a microphone for making calls, which works well, but on my example, the three buttons on the in-line control switch served as a single function switch. I could answer calls, and hang up calls with it, and pause and play music & videos, but anything other than that, I could not get the switch to perform. Frankly, I don't care much. A volume control would have been nice, but I can live without it. Mine came with four different sized silicone caps for the ear-buds, and I found a comfortable fitting pair and fitted them easily enough.Things that could be better:I've already mentioned the switch not working as claimed in the instructions, but it also feels a little bit cheap. One other niggle is the body of the ear-bugs. They are a little roughly finished, and have a sharp ridge which can catch my ear when pressed in to form a good seal. A little work and I can smooth the ridge down and then it won't be a problem, but I thought I'd mention it. I've included a pic without the silicone pads fitted, to show you what I mean.The box the headphones come in is a bit over-engineered. I'd rather have a cheaper box and a pouch to store my headphones in, than a fancy box that gets thrown out and no pouch, which is what you get here.Summary:I really like these headphones. I appreciate that SOL Republic spent their budget (mainly) on the important stuff, and cut corners in sensible places. Yeah, I don't like the switch, but it's an electronic control, and so won't effect the sound. Likewise the slightly rough finish on the buds, I can sort that if I need to. SOL Republic has nailed the important stuff inside the earbuds, and produced a good set of budget headphones that are well suited to being connected to a mobile phone.
