We have our ice maker and it stops making ice before the bin is full. What settings can I check? The manual is very hard to follow.

If I use a 5 gallon water bottle, does it still need drain or will unit re-pump melted ice water back to use again?

It does not recycle the melted ice, you still need the drain hose

Can you remove the hose from the included water filter?

Yes it is separate from the tubing so as to be replaced.
