It’s earthy, which is expected and I like earthy an amazingly it leaves you squeaky clean and when I get out the shower, my skin is not dry, which is good. I’ve always had normal to dry skin iron now that I’m old my skin is dry to extra dry, which is why I purchased this. And the smell does not linger as the comments say. So this is soap is not huge it does not smell strong. The only common denominator is that it is somewhat pricey. However, if you have very dry skin or eczema, it is worth the money as I said it has amazing lather. And the comment regarding cutting the soap in three sections it would be tiny. Do you have a great day? AFTER ONE WEEK No need to apply lotion, below the knees were silky smooth and unexpected. As stated I had dry to normal and now in my senior years dry to extra dry. It is now February 20th, and in Texas, the weather went from teens to summer in mid 80’s now dropping this morning in 40’s, by Sunday low thirty’s and below my knees are now dry needing moisturizing lotion which I have not used for some time and prior to using this olive oil soap I would need to use several times a day to avoid itching. I found a conch shell, believe it or not, and it sits in the shell on my sink. **Q: Chemical smell of the olive has me worried.I grew up with palm not olive.Can someone that used it growing up confirm it always smelled like that?** A: The reason this stuff smells horrendous is that it's not properly cured. They ship it too fresh and tightly sealed so that it cannot cure. Leave it unwrapped outside in a dry spot for a couple of months and it will cure to the point that the smell is tolerable.
