“'come on get happy! '”
I originally bought this for my mom. She is older ( although growing old gracefully) she sometimes forgets where she put her keys, the car or even the cat. Even so, when she got frustrated and asked the doctor what she recommended, Cacao is what the doctor recommended. When mom told m, I thought the doctor was pulling her leg. Cacao is the main ingredient in chocolate. Well I told mom; the doctor is humoring you, like the good humor bar. I thought this doctor took the sugar pill concept to an extreme…So I asked mom, well how much chocolate did the doctor recommend?Mom said “Oh… I don’t know I can’t remember.” Well okay, even though I thought her doctor was as nutty as a snickers bar; I bought this in pill form anyway. I also bought her some chocolate too. I don’t want her to suffer from chocolate withdrawals…Anyway, I called the doc and she said start with 2 pills daily. Mom did that; and low and behold.. Mom remembers EVERYTHING now.Even the crap I didn’t want her to remember. Like how she has a friend with a great son… who is a dentist! She also remembers the good stuff; like when I bought her chocolate!. or hot chocolate memories on cold winter mornings. So I did a little research just to see what was going on. It turns out that her doc was right. Cacao releases happy endorphins in the brain. It also repairs the heart and helps with blood flow. In fact in Panama there are more centenarians then other places. The only part of their lifestyle that is different from city Panamanians is they drink Cacao like coffee. They have this drink sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. They are a very happy group. I have to say I tried it too. It really does work; and I know when I have not taken it for a while. I get the crab apples again. Until Mom says “♫come on get happy! ♫”So even though I have mixed emotions, do I really want someone who remembers all my mistakes, to live well over 100 years? I have to say YES! I do! I also want her to have a happy healthy life! So I just bought more and I take them daily even if I forget to take other pills I remember this one…. Who knew the really fountain of youth is Chocolate… Someone should tell Ponce De Leon.

Good product, and it seems to work well on restoration of memory. But I'm no doctor.
No complaints here. I bought this for the memory enhancing properties that Cocoa is supposed to have. It seems that it actually works, now if I could only find my bottle. All kidding aside, I did notice an improvement in my memory after the second bottle.

good product but confusing info
I like Swansons and I believe this is a good product. To address some of the concerns below, yes, it is cacao powder, not cocoa powder, and you can buy it bulk and make cacao beverages or use it however you like. Being in capsule form, at a reasonable price, makes it a convenient way for people who want the benefit of cacao without the sugar most people need in order to consume it. Not everyone enjoys bitter chocolate. Cacao is different than cocoa, which has been processed and stripped of the cocoa butter, which contains a lot of the goodness. The reason I dinged the product one star is confusion. It says that each pill is 400 mg theobroma cacao. I'm not doubting that, the problem is, many people are interested in the THEOBROMINE content and theobromine is not the same as theobroma cacao, which refers to the whole plant. Theobromine is the active ingredient, similar to caffeine, that gives chocolate is 'lift'....energy enhancement, clear thinking....its gentler than caffeine, it does not give you a jolt but its a definite pick me up. I think saying this is 400 mg of theobroma cacao, while that is true, is confusing to people who are looking for theobromine. I like to know how much theobromine I'm taking. I did some research, I found a source which said that raw cacao powder has about 10% theobromine, which means each of these pills would have 40 mg. Think of it this way, if you ground coffee beans and filled a capsule with 400 mg of coffee powder, you would not have 400 mg of caffeine.IIts just more confusing with cacao because cacao and cocoa and theobroma and theobomine all sound similar. I really wish Swanson's would weigh in and let us know that they have tested the product and what the results are. Please list separately the amount of Theobromine in your product. Swansons...I really like you, I buy a lot from you, please label the theobromine content of this product. Thank you.

As a product I'm sure it's of quality, as a supplement I'm not so sure what it does. Can't really sense any general health benefits from it, it does make me have to go pee a bit more than usual though.

Seems to work
They seem to work for improving my memory which has until recently been bad. I can remember actor's names now! They smell good and I like that I got three bottles.
