This is great rack for cookies and pastry. It is NOT a roasting rack although it can be used as one with a relatively light load. Using it for a beef Wellington or a medium turkey should be fine; but a couple turkeys or a crown roast is obviously out out scope. The good: Very well made COOLING rack for pastries. Convenient size. Easy to clean even after a messy frosting job. LIFETIME WARRANTY--no idea why these bozo reviewers are complaining about defects. (Robinson home products, Product Replacement Services,2615 Walden Ave, Buffalo, NY 14225 for defective product replacement.) The Bad: Tempting to use as a roasting rack; works OK for light loads but heavy loading will cause it to fail. (A commercial roasting rack is about 3 to 4x as much money--for good reason!) The ugly: Need to leave soft cakes or pastries in the pan to cool as the rack doesn't offer enough support for them. A great buy and excellent when used as intended.

When doing my Christmas baking last year, I got tired of cookies falling through the slats on my old cooling racks (they only had wires running one way). The criss-cross pattern of these cooling racks prevents that. They are sturdy and clean easily. I have been loving them! They also fit perfectly into the Lincoln FoodService half-sheet pans (heavy gauge), and the two together make an unbeatable combo! Not just great for baking, but also for roasts, bacon in the oven -- I seem to constantly find uses for these two items, and wish I'd bought them years ago! A great investment if you like to cook.

I bought this rack to use in the oven with my Nordic Ware 1/2 sheet pan and Wear-Ever 1/2 size sheet pan (model #5314). The fit is a little tight with the Nordic Ware pan, but overall it works well with both! We love making bacon in the oven, so I see this rack getting a lot of action. My only complaint, which is not really a fault with this product and how well it functions, but feel obligated to mention nonetheless, is that the bacon grease cleanup can be a bit tedious with the small grid pattern. I must also admit that I let the pan sit too long so that might be why I found myself going cross-eyed and crazy scrubbing the little crevices to get the bits of bacon goo out. The good news is that this baby can take a ride in the dishwasher and come out spotless, which totally negates my hand-washing "complaint." And even better news is that you can make a lot of bacon on this rack. I plan on spatchcocking my turkey and baking it on this rack for Thanksgiving (a la Serious Eats) and I have no doubt it will live up to my expectations (the CIA rack and the turkey).

These wire racks have worked out very well for me; they fit inside the Vollrath 1/2 sheet baking pans perfectly. They are 11 3/4" wide by 16 7/8" long by 5/8" tall. The grid holes are 5/16" square. I haven't found any rough or sharp edges, which helps ease the pain of clean up. Besides using these for cooling racks, I have also used them in the oven while cooking various types of meats and vegetables. I several instances I have used them under the broiler without any problems. The wire grid pattern is spaced close enough together that there has been adequate support for everything that I have cooked/cooled on them. Wire grids are a pain to clean, and these are no different, particularly when the food item residue has cooled and hardened. I generally turn them upside down in a 1/2 sheet baking pan, fill it with a little dish soap and hot water, and let it soak for a few minutes. Then I use a ScotchBrite pad to finish the cleaning.

I'm very disappointed with the lifespan of this product. I originally bought it on ATK's recommendation, though they've since changed their rating. Also, I don't know if the original listing said chrome-plated steel. I like the tight spacing of the grid, and it is very sturdy, sturdy enough for a roast. But after about one year of seldom to moderate use (maybe twice a month), the chrome plating came off, exposing the metal underneath. Now it's basically permanently rusted. I clean it with a toothbrush after every use to get the rust off and hand-dry, but somehow it's always got rust. I only use it with parchment on top now, which kind of defeats the cooling purpose, but when I can afford to I'm going to throw them all out and replace them with stainless steel versions. I bought a stainless one about a year ago and never experience any problems with it, and it cleans up super easily. Never buy chrome-plated steel. 🙁

Perfectly fits my new half sheet pan. The grid pattern is a good size, with spacing that allows for quick cooling, but sturdy enough to stand the weight of a large loaf of bread. My only reason to keep from a 5 star is the leg support system. I wish they were a little taller to allow for more air circulation, and it would even be better if the legs could fold under for storage, but I haven't seen that feature in decades.

Excellent product. Fits perfectly into my sheet pan, and it's very stable. I store the rack inside my sheet pan inside my oven. It's always a pleasure to bring it out. Very strong.
