This is a beautiful product and the most expensive salt keeper offered
This is a beautiful product and the most expensive salt keeper offered. It was shipped without any concern how it arrived. It was put in a barely padded envelope with nothing to hold the lid in place. The lid was broken off when it arrived, see the picture it arrived in three pieces! The keeper's container space will not hold 5 oz of salt, too small. This is very disappointing. Returning it for refund only. Would love to have this on my counter if it had arrived undamaged. Secondary issue, the cavity for holding salt needs to be larger.

Pretty great, and exactly as described!
Despite it being months since my Le Creuset salt pig was tragically shattered, I found myself reluctant to pull the trigger on this purchase. As you may have noticed, there are a large number of contradictory reviews, leading to thoughts, like: is it terrible? Amazing? Not what’s listed? Will it even hold salt, or maybe it will spontaneously burst into flames? I could just get another crock, as it’s guaranteed to be exactly the same as my previous one, but the olive wood on this one was so lovely…The price recently dropped, so I figured that was a sign. And it turns out everything is great. The salt cellar is lovely, heavy and holds a little less than a cup of salt. Does that mean yours will be just as good? I have no idea, but I figure I should put one vote in for what appears to be a very nice, functional piece of art for my kitchen.

Beware: You Get What You Pay For
I've owned a Berard Olive-Wood Salt Keeper for several years that I bought at Williams-Sonoma, and absolutely love it. So much, in fact, that I've been wanting a second one. I was excited to see Amazon's price and ordered it immediately. Bad decision. The wood is beautiful, but the bowl is cracked on the top edge and the lid does not fit well. The lid is not even the same size as the bowl (larger in some places and smaller in others). I believe this is a factory irregular product and the seller is not admitting it. So, buyer beware. You may get lucky and get one that is just perfect, but I can't recommend this product by this seller.

Happy w/both (concrete bowl and wooden bowl versions)
I bought the concrete bowl w/olive wood top. The lid and bowl fit together perfectly. The well is small that holds the salt but I'm OK with that. I did order the olive wood bowl and top version for my pepper, we'll see if the quality is the same. The reviews weren't so good but I'm hoping it will be fine. The wood grain on the concrete bowl version is lighter than pictured but I'm not displeased with it at all. Update:I did also purchase the wooden version. It does have some imperfections. The lid where it meets the bowl when closed is not "flush", a tiny bit of the lip of the bowl is exposed. Inside the bowl there was a crack (this was an amazon warehouse deal) on the inside. The crack however does not impact the strength or integrity of the bowl. I didn't consider returning it because these small imperfections were not a deal breaker for me.

A waste of good wood
The wood is beautiful, olive wood has intense marbelling. The bottom bowl part was done well, nice and thick, has a good weight. But the lid is like "what happened?" The lid is larger than the bowl, and overlaps in a not well thought out way, it's not even centered, so it overlaps more on one side than the other. The lid doesn't really sit flush on the bowl, in fact my lid was warped so there was a big curve in the lid, lots of air/exposure could get in. The process to assemble these was flawed from the start, and these people have no idea what quality control is, or they would change their manufacturing process. Charge more if you need to, but put out a reasonable product. Don't waste good wood.

Damaged - but replacement is perfect.
One problem with Amazon is some sellers sell seconds of products without identifying the product as a second. I assume that is what is happening here. The salt keeper would have been great but has a large crack in the side. It would still work but looks awful. This product would never have passed even a simple inspection.Update - replacement is great. Gorgeous and in good condition. Good luck.

Beautiful but smaller than specified.
The one I received is very nice quality and the wood grain is beautiful. I'm only giving it 4 stars because it's smaller than described. The description says it is "approximately" 4" x 4" but it's more like 3 3/4" diameter x 2 3/4 tall. I'm keeping it because of the nice quality and I do think it will be big enough for what I need.

Huge Crack Poor Quality
Terrible quality. There is a huge crack down the middle of the salt cellar. How did this pass any kind of quality control? I read the reviews about the company going down hill but I still believed I would get a quality product. Now I have to waste my time to return this garbage.
