Great recipes, very helpful!
I have loved using this book. You can really tell that a lot of time and care went into putting it together. The information on dieting is very streamlined and goes along with much of the other data that I have read on this subject, so I know it's reliable and accurate. The cookbook really helped me to come up with new ideas of healthy foods for myself and the family. The recipes are not difficult to follow and all of the ingredients can be found at my local store, this isn't always the case with some of those other cookbooks out there. I found that as I started to use the book and make the meals that I even evolved some of my own new recipes that are healthy and affordable. My favorite recipe so far is the Chicken Marsala, so easy to make and my husband loved it! My favorite thing about this cookbook is that it really got me thinking about all the foods that I was buying and eating. So this cookbook not only helps you with recipes but it also teaches you about healthy, smart eating and how to cook delicious meals but still stay healthy. Now that I eat healthier I've realized that most of the weight I was carrying around was caused by my diet, not necessarily my lack of exercise. I was eating way too many unnecessary carbs and not enough protein. This book really helped me be in control of my body and I feel much better and have more energy as a result. Thank you to John Catham for taking the time to put together this book!

Great recipes but with some questions
Generally speaking, this is a good book. The author delivered on his word of providing simple and healthy recipes, many of which were really great such as fresh veggie frittata, riviera tuna salad and grilled chicken and vegetables with lemon-walnut sauceThe presentation was also good. I liked the fact that information was provided upfront and before listing the recipes. The only issue I had with the recipes was that the author placed the number of servings at the end of the recipe instead of above the ingredients list. While I found the data the author provided informative, I did disagree with some of his statements. I also thought he exaggerated at times. An appendix listing the studies he cited would have gone a long way towards lending more credibility to some of his statements.

Understanding that Belly Fat!
Well, we all want to lose that belly fat, and this cookbook gives you the necessary tools to begin that journey. As you open the book, the first sentence tells you that everything you think you know about belly fat, is probably wrong, and while this statement is bold it's also most likely true. The first few chapters explain the dangers of Belly Fat and why we should be paying attention to this subject for more reasons than just fitting into that new bikini. It points out common myths, how to choose the right foods and ends with over 100 mouth-watering recipes! The best thing about the cookbook is that it explains why counting calories, avoiding fats and endless crunches will not keep your belly fat away. It talks about losing stored fat instead of losing muscle. The book explains that it's not only about making the right choices, but more about how to make the right choices. And knowing how is the simple answer. It even gives you advice on cravings, the first 2 weeks (aka the adjustment period) and a shopping guide. The recipes include soups, dips, desserts, full meals, salads and snacks! They are all relatively easy and you could find the ingredients in any super market. A great start to understanding and getting rid of that stubborn belly fat!

Excellent book divided into sections never thought I would eat Avocado but thanks to the great recipes I am! Yes you do need to alter the amounts if there are only 2 of you not a problem I bought a cheap set of cup measures as being American most recipe s are measured in cups We has had fun using this book Just remember the only 2 grains a day rule I hadn't paid attention the first week and did not loose the weight

Appealing Book with Some Reservations
Abdominal (belly) fat is a health risk. It encases the gut and organs especially causing fatty liver. This is a major factor in type-2 diabetes, heart disease and strokes. Fat loss without lean muscle depletion depends on many factors. The thousands of theories and books testify to this. Motivation apart, food should vary and satisfy hunger without producing mood changes or tiredness and, of course, they should work. John Chatham sets about this task by listing foods to limit and those that can be eaten generously. His 105 recipes cover breakfasts, salads, snacks, soups, sandwiches and snacks, grains, poultry, fish, vegetables and desserts. They generally are appealing and appetising, although some are time-consuming. They contain between 1 and 8 servings which may be a problem for individuals or families, as may frequent shopping for fresh fish, fruit, vegetables and meat. Most people work and lead busy lives and have families and hobbies. Cooking may be one of them but preparing these may not be practical. A few other points arise. The nutritional content of the recipes would be welcome. The harmful effects 'unhealthy' fats in beef have shown to be grossly misleading. Also, with unlimited fruit, including dried forms, plus hidden carbohydrates in low fat cheeses and yoghourt, beware of your sugar intake. John Chatham tells us, 'You Will Not Be Counting Calories, Carbs or Fat Grams'. This would make eating easier, but moderation and 'eat as much like' have their own interpretations. Also, he writes, 'You Will Not Be Portioning or Weighing Anything', yet virtually all his recipes contradict this with measuring in the dreaded cup sizes (surely weighing), various spoon sizes and meat and fish of specified weight cut into pieces. There are no illustrations in the Kindle version (understandable at the price). This contains some useful information and omits some that many see as essential. Nutritional recipe breakdown is one and cup sizes need converting into British weights and measures. These changes would have made the book more appealing. This diet seems balanced but does it produce the guaranteed results the writer claims?
