Review: Good product - These items were great, but I kind of recommend that you put some type of sealant around the hose just for an extra measure. It’s what I did.
Review: Perfect waterproof cable exit from an outdoor plastic box - The power supply and wireless throttle for my garden railroad are located in a plastic box. The AC power cord has to go into the box and both track power and 12V DC power need to exit the box. I used round cross section rubber cable for all three box penetrations and sealed them with the correct sized Cable Glands Joints. Even though I only needed three, I wasn't really sure what size(s) I needed, so I got this 20-pack which contained four each of 5 different sizes. It worked perfectly for me, because I could drill any hole size I needed in the side of my plastic box. If you are planing to use these with standard outdoor conduit boxes or standard conduit fittings, you'll be unhappy because these are metric, and none of the sizes and threads line up with anything we use for electrical in the USA. I took a star off of the "Easy to use" category because these don't match up with normal electrical boxes and fittings.

**Q: Can you make a flat cord waterproof with these, or just works with round wires?**
A: I hate to disagree with the comments of others - but the inside of these grommets has a rubber boot.  As you tighten the feedthrough the rubber collapses on the object passing through.  Because the inner boot is pliable I do believe it would seal just fine on a flat cable (or anything not round).   The key to these is using the proper size for the item passing through.  If you used the largest size with a small wire you'd be in trouble.

**Q: Does it matter which side faces out? For a cleaner install on my car firewall I thought they'd look better with the flat side out and the top nut in.**
A: Should not make any difference. The seal is between the cable jacket and the body. if it really needs to be water proof, add silicone between the gland nut body body and the fire wall.
Hope this helps. They are good cord grips.

**Q: How many milimeters do the L1 washer and the lock nut need to be sufficient? Is like 2-4 milimetsers good?**
A: 4 mm is max thickness.

**Q: Can these be used for underground or direct burial type applications?**
A: Maybe?   Make shure thet the body is water proof between the body an the bulkhead.

Overall I would say I am satisfied with my purchase. It's pretty difficult to find this item at an electrical supply house and when they do have them they're expensive. I am using them to pass UV rated shielded cat-5 from a junction box and the first thing I did was see how many terminated RJ-45 cables could fit through them. Here is what I found: The largest size can easily fit one bootless Rj-45 cable through, though it could barely seal around the cable. It is possible to get two through but I could not get them back out without cutting an end off. The second largest size can just fit one bootless RJ-45 cable and can seal nicely. The smaller sizes are too small to fit an RJ-45 but, with exception of the smallest size, all could pass an unterminated cat-5 or cat-6 cable. The construction looks decent, although the threaded portion will is somewhat shallow and will have issues mounting to material thicker than 1/8" (3.5mm)
