Horrible histamine reaction
I had a severe histamine reaction to this product. I itched uncontrollably at night which ruined my sleep not to mention how miserable I was. 4 days after stopping, the itching stopped. I took them again to be sure, and yep, the itching returned. On a side note: My blood sugar DID go down; however, it wasn't worth the agony of the itching and sleepless nights. I contacted the manufacturers and explained what happened and they graciously refunded my money. Good customer service.

Taking this instead of Metformin was one of the best decisions I've ever made
I recently found out I had type 2 diabetes from a blood test showing my blood sugar level to be 226 (in the morning, having not eaten since the previous night). After confirming with an A1C test, my doctor prescribed Metformin. I decided to do some research before picking up the prescription. I saw the side effects, which I wasn't thrilled about. I then started looking at alternatives, which led me to Berberine. After researching and reading all the positive reviews, I decided I wanted to give it a go before taking Metformin. I returned to my doctor's office for a follow-up, having been taking Berberine for a week (combined with improved diet and exercise habits), and my blood sugar level was down to 133. A couple weeks later I purchased a blood sugar monitor to use at home, and my first-thing-in-the-morning blood sugar levels have been consistently under 100. When I've tested myself 1-2 hours after a meal, I have yet to get a reading of over 125. In addition, I've lost 20 lbs in a month and a half, and have experienced no side effects whatsoever. And in spite of the aforementioned improved diet, I still occasionally eat some of my favorite foods that are not recommended for diabetics (pizza, tacos, etc). If you have type 2 diabetes, to say I recommend this product would be a massive understatement.
