Shaman Wisdom Cards

Interesting reflections on our brothers and sisters -- nature
I read an online review of this deck after I received it, and the author took offence at the way the reflections in the little white book (LWB) read. She understood the cards, because they read in the first person (for example, "I am tobacco"), as saying that the person reading them equated the essence of the card with him or herself. The LWB does say that growth in wisdom gets you to a point where you do identify yourself with the elements of the deck, understanding the "oneness" of creation, but as a beginner, I read the cards as talking from the perspective of the plant, animal, rock, tree, direction, time they portray, telling you what they are. This reminds me of how the elements speak to the shaman, identifying the element's nature and purpose. Also the reviewer of the deck took offence that people might think that they were a shaman or practicing shamanism simply because they use the deck. However, they are shaman WISDOM cards, and I read that as meaning that they impart to the reader some of the wisdom a shaman might identify with each of the elements on the card.I became sold on the deck when a shamanic practitoner (practitioner meaning she practices some activities associated with a shaman -- she herself is not a shaman) friend of mine did a reading with these cards before leading us in a blessing of our teepee. The 3 cards were wolf, sage and tobacco. My friend's family identifies with the wolf clan, we and the lodge were smudged with sage for purification at the start of the blessing, and we passed aroud the ceremonial tobacco pipe to at the end of the blessing. The deck had laid out the ceremony that was already planned. All in all, taking the deck at face value, I find it a useful and inspiring addition to my other tarot and oracle decks. My only slight disatisfaction is that I can't find out anything about the author and her background for producing this deck.

Warm and Affirming
I haven't finishing studying these, or used them in a professional capacity yet, to be honest. However, they just FEEL RIGHT. WARM, even. I've read the reviews that point out hard cold facts about them and their relationship (or lack thereof) to actual Indian Shamans. Personally, I think that different things work for each person, and that different things can 'speak' differently to different people. Also, you get what you're looking for by perusing various materials and going with your gut instinct of what feels right FOR YOU and accurate FOR YOU. I already love these and am so glad to have them. The quality is great. My only complaint is how TINY the instruction booklet (and its print!) are because that makes it harder to read. I loved the 'tag' of "Oracle Cards" that was one of those recommended by Amazon. These are not really tarot cards, but are affirmation and wisdom cards. They're written a bit differently and that takes a minute to adapt to, but then it feels good. A card will say, "I am..." unlike tarot decks. This deck feels friendly, also, which is more than I feel from most traditional tarot decks. If you're looking for a traditional type of tarot deck to read with, choose something else, but don't forget to get these too!

Read the info!
I’ve seen complaints that these cards aren’t authentic “Native American” as if there is just one tradition. The cards are “inspired by,” as is clearly stated.I love them from the look to the descriptions and meanings of each card. There is real perspective to be gained from every one of them. This is my second deck, since my first were so beloved they were falling apart.

Noble/interesting intent, frustrating execution...
While I agree with much of what other reviewers have presented here. I'm disappointed that, once again, as they did with the Wolf Song deck, publisher U.S. Games Systems, Inc. has severely undermined a wonderful idea and thwarted the noble efforts of creator/author Leita Rishesson. While the cards themselves and the design and the thought and insight put into them are quite delightful and meaningful, the absence of adequate documentation, and the glaring omission of an index or table of contents, pretty much leaves you flailing around until you get more familiar with the deck, a process that is proving quite frustrating and time consuming as I flip through pages trying to find information. My only question about the cards themselves is Leita's declaration that Coyote is a feminine energy. In no tradition have I found the Trickster archetype in general, nor the Coyote archetype specifically, as being feminine, as much as I'd love to see that. It's particularly confusing when I note that Raven is depicted as masculine. If you were to look at the respective Trickster archetype in, for example, Haida (Raven) and Lakota (Coyote) mythology, you'd find more feminine attributes in Raven than you'd find in Coyote. While this potentially casts a shadow over the credibility of this deck for me, I'm anxious to explore it more and see what comes up for me.

revised review
altho i did not recieve exactly what i thot i was ordering, idid recieve it in a timely manner. i wrote seller about the mix up and was answered in a timely and courtious manner. they explained how sometimes with high volumes of products mistakes sometimes slip thru the cracks. i was pleased with the email i recieved and now have reconsidered my original rating. i upgradeded it to a good rating and would gladly give the seller another chance at my business as i believe they are a group of people who give pafrt of their product to charity. as i wish to contribute to their cause i will gladly continue to do business with them. thanks for ability to leave feedback and all your convenient services. Awesome!!
I love love love my shamanic cards. The imagery is beautiful. I feel really connected to this deck, it allows personal interpretation to come flowing rite it. The simple imagery allows the imagination to go beyond itself to figure out what it means. The little booklet that came with it, tells little stories almost, which I find cute. But overall, I love this deck!
