First Alert FG250B Dual Ionization Smoke Alarm with 9-Volt Battery

I bought this to replace an older model (200B) that went bad after ~7 years so decent lifespan. I love the small foot print and there is blinking light that is not obnoxious (you have to look right up into it) you can see at night to know it works in addition to testing. I usually test every season. It comes with a regular 9V battery. I will probably change in a few years. I've bought higher expensive smoke alarms and found they fail so much quicker. Bottom line these are old school and work.

I got this to replace the OEM smoke detector in my Rockwood Roo 183 2013 camper. The item came in packaged well and with adequate instructions for installation. The OEM one had the same exact mounts as the new one. After installing it I ran a couple of tests on it and it worked perfectly. Also at camp some smoke from our outdoor fire got trapped inside the camper and set the thing off so it was a good test to see how it actually works in real time. I wrote the install date on a sticker I put on the underside of the item so I would know in the future when I replaced it. This one is an exact replacement and I would highly recommend it to others.

Replaced Rv smoke detector, it was an exact replacement. Working properly, easy install, battery comes with the unit.

Just about what you'd expect. I did notice the unit is a small which is nice for me so it's not so large on the ceiling, and the installation instructions were clear. Comes with the battery which requires you to pull out a plastic insert to engage the battery. All in all it was a good price for a basic smoke detector and it works just fine from what I can tell. The instructions say to test weekly which is interesting, and I did notice that the test button is very responsive. When you remove your finger from the test button the sound stops immediately which is a bit different than what I used before where the smoke detector sound keeps on going and going for several seconds. This one stops right away after the test. I would buy this again if I had to.

I bought this to replace the original smoke detector in my camper van. I'm glad I was able to find this model, as it's an exact replacement. sNoo new screw holes needed.
