Feather Artist Club SS Wood Folding Straight Razor

Very smooth and I didn’t know it didn’t came with and razors so make sure you buy some

I showed up to a Nick Arrojo class with an Arrojo Razor I had bought many many years ago from him at a hair show. And when he informed me that I had a collector’s item now because of how long ago they stopped making them, I decided to retire his razor and put it in a shadow box and get a different razor. He just puts his name on the Feather Razors now, which is understandable considering it probably cost him too much to produce his own, so I had to set out to find a new type. I tried the standard feather plier razor and found it to be very heavy and bulky. I did not find a plier razor as comfortable until I got this one! This is definitely a winner!

10/10 closest shave. 7/10 remaining face. I’ll update this review when I stop looking like I lost a fight with a very polite, very expensive scalpel.

This is a top-of-the-line professional straight razor that I bought just because I deserve it! Once I retired, decided that I would like to have a beard and mustache and saw the need to obtain quality grooming tools, I chose this premium razor. You do not have to sharpen this folding straight razor! While blades do not come with the product, I purchased a box of double edged Feather Artist Club Professional blades that come with 20 easy to load blades per cartridge. You simply squeeze the clothes pin like portion of the product and insert the no touch blade using the cartridge ejector into the razor and stop pinching the loading portion of the straight razor. Unless you are a professional barber, you or your loved ones will probably be a bit squeamish at the thought of you using a straight razor to shave. I know my wife was and rightfully so. This product requires extreme care and practice using the correct pressure and angle while shaving, but once you get the hang of it though, you will enjoy the smoothest shave you have ever had and acrisply neat edges around the boarder of your beard and mustache. I have cut myself numerous times. None were serious, but all reinforced my need to be careful. In short order I have obtained blood free skills while trimming the hair under my nose around the top of my mustache, around the edges of my beard and mustache, my sideburns, around my ears and on my neckline. I know! I can almost hear your “Yikes!” and see you wince. The trick to a safe, comfortable and clean shave is to take your time using the correct tools and supplies with care and lots of practice. Although this product and the necessary supplies are not cheap, over time, this product will pay for itself if you were paying a professional to groom and maintain your facial hair. Be careful, but appreciate this product and the fruition of your new skill set. It is worth it. Enjoy!

I bought this razor amongst five others straight razors to swith to straight razor shaving. While not the most expensive, this is the best one for several reasons: 1. I have a large hands and the longer stem on the other side of the blade allows me to hold it correctly with two fingers, allowing for greater control 2. The longer blade shaves larger surface area 3. The holder and blade allows for a great angle that cuts well, easily (without too much experience), and smoothly 4. The switching of blades is easy and painless I don't really have any negatives other than it is kind of expensive for a shavette style razor, but i don't regret it and would buy it again.

I’ve been shaving for more than 40 years, and I’ve always been curious and fascinated by the idea of using a straight razor. I sought the advice of a trusted barber, and he steered me away from less expensive alternatives, as well as the traditional razor requiring a strop to maintain & sharpen from time to time. The Feather SS Scotch wood folding razor uses replaceable blades, eliminating the need for constant sharpening, and some of the hygiene concerns that may come from it. It feels comfortable in the hand, and after just two attempts, I found it much easier to use than expected. Only a couple of minor nicks was a small price to pay for an exquisitely close and comfortable shave. I don’t have a particularly thick beard, so I have found that for me at least the single razor will last roughly one month so a replacement pack of 20 blades should last me the better part of two years. Additionally, because of the contours of my beard and mustache, this shavette gives me the precision control I need to get my look "just right". Combined with a badger brush and a decent quality soap/creme lather, the daily ritual of shaving has taken on a special role in my morning routine. It may not be for everyone, but for those considering the switch from mass produced disposable blades using three or more razor blades to deliver a close shave, this traditional “back to basics” approach to men’s grooming is perhaps best experienced with a razor of this quality.

Japanese excellence, I'm still on first blade after two months of shawing, true I wear the beard still two months!, give me a break, beautiful in shape, I simply love to shave with it. Well I still would it was US made, butt then again would it be so good, I doubt.

I can't explain how much this Folding Straight Razor is amazing, the weight distribution , the quality of the wood, at the steel , the system of the blade holder, I wish I know about this years and years ago. best in the market so far, you will not waste your money with this, this is the deal the real deal. trust me
