Brilliant. Paired this with a new speaker for my fender super champ amp x2. My amp now sounds like a 50s amp.

I use this in the V1 in my 59 Bassman reissue. Sounds better than my GE and JANS. A great tube!

Pros are it cuts volume good and retains top end…so I use mine for practice at low levels or to take two channels where one is louder than the other. However, I did find they tighten up the bass and cut lows…this may be desirable or not. It using a Fender deluxe style Botique amp. I much preferred a Ge NOS 5752 which are going upwards of $60 now, but we’ll worth it! You can find those on Reverb. But great tube also to put in V1 if you just use V2 clean channel as well…as some circuits past through the first V1 section to V2. At the price it’s worth it for sure! But it def cut lows, and in some recording applications this may be useful…you def can crank your volume and for the price it’s worth having one on hand. Personally I’ll probably put another GE Nos 5751 in my V1. Those are rated about 70% over the stock ones at 100%. But this tube is the one for HRD amps and ones that are crazy loud for home. Like I said only upside or downside is bass is less.

I have now put two of these tubes into tube microphones that I have modified. In the quest for the best sound I can get, I have also spent much more money on a few NOS tubes. After allowing days of burn-in and critical listening, I really wanted the NOS GE 12AY7 tubes I bought to sound better, but the plain fact is that these Electro-Harmonix 12AY7 tubes out-perform them in every way. For a start, the EH tubes have a much lower noise level than NOS tubes I have tried. Secondly, they just sound sweeter in this application. In the past, the only other tubes I have used that match these for audio fidelity were milspec JAN Philips ECC88 (6DJ8) tubes, made in the 80's (different heater pinout, but similar in spec). If you are wanting to replace the stock Chinese 12AX7 in a tube mic, these 12AY7's are a great option for a clean sound at a very reasonable price and will save you the trouble of finding a good NOS tube when many of them are of dubious quality.

The product was shipped quickly and easy to install. The amp sounds better with the new tube.
