Uncharted: a survival love story

Funny, sad, sweet, HEA
I’ve had this book on my Kindle for quite awhile, but don’t remember reading it before. Stumbled on it while searching for anything interesting. It definitely fit the bill. You’re pulled in from the start, with well-developed characters and a different plot that kept it fresh. I like the author’s writing and really felt for these characters. Would love to see what happens to them after the book ends, but it was still satisfying. The story is about two strangers, nothing alike, who end up stranded on a desert island. You think you can guess the rest, vut the author throws in more dimension. I read it in a day and plan to check out her other books. Recommend this!

Definitely worth checking out!
4.5 stars! It’s pretty crazy how this book fell into my lap at precisely the right moment! I had just finished a survival romance and was in the mood for another right as this one released this month. It was an easy decision to one-click and I’m ever so glad I did!Needing an escape from what she feels is a monotonous life, Violet agrees to nanny for a family for the summer before she starts college. She is whisked away on a swanky private jet to cross the Pacific when things go wrong and the plane suddenly crashes. The jerk she had a run in with at the airport, Beck, is the only other survivor besides a flight attendant they rescue that’s in bad shape. Together they must all fight to stay alive. This story was so much more than a romance. I love how it got into the gritty details of survival and didn’t push past all of those important details to get to the love story brewing between Violet and Beck. The injured flight attendant and Violet’s determination to save him was one of my favorites aspects of the novel and something I didn’t expect. She was so present in every aspect of their fight to stay alive and she never gave up on him, no matter what the cost and how devastating things became. Her fearlessness and fierceness made her a character to love. She was so take charge and someone to admire in the face of such tragic circumstances. There is a romance that develops between Violet and Beck. At first they share a huge dislike for on another, despite the instantaneous connection they obviously shared. It does have a touch of forbiddenness to it. There is a bit of an age gap and Violet is only 17 when the novel starts out but it’s not long until she is of age and the romance is enough of a slow burn with building tension that it’s nothing to worry about. Beck is definitely the quiet and brooding type but I loved the banter between these two and how their romance develops.I’m so pleasantly surprised by the story that unfolds in Uncharted! I had a hard time putting this one down as I was so invested in the characters and what would become of them. The ending was so bittersweet as I wasn’t ready for the story to end just yet. I will be checking out more from this author!

Good writing with room for story improvement.
I really wanted to love this book. I enjoy stranded romances so I was already all in on the plot line. Where the story fell a little short was the character development. I admired Violet but felt like I never got to know Beck beyond the bombshell secret he dropped. The story was heavy on the front end, with the bulk of the book encompassing the crash and the first few weeks on the island. It felt like the meat of the story really could have been on the back end when the characters struggle to survive, their rescue and how the relationship adapts to survive in the world off the island.I will fully admit my reading of this book may be tainted by "On The Island" by Tracey Garvis-Graves. It's an outstanding book and it was hard to no draw comparisons between the two. No complaints about Johnson's writing, she's a competent writer and the story is well edited. My last gripe is the age difference of the characters. I wanted to get over the age difference I really did but I just couldn't. Mainly because it felt so unnecessary and kind of sloppily handled. The male lead in the story drops a bombshell about his personal life that creates conflict, I just didn't get the need to have an age difference conflict on top of that. The female lead could have easily been 22 years old instead of 17, it wouldn't have effected the story but it would have helped alleviate the readers uncomfortableness of trying to put yourself in the romantic shoes of a character who is barely old enough to be moved out of the "child" category. Just, please no.So in a nutshell, the story could be better, the age difference in the characters was problematic but I did finish the book. I didn't rage quit it and it's a competent piece of writing not as well crafted as the author's Boston Love series. If you're a fan of the writers work it's worth picking up and judging for yourself.

Crashing into Love
A dream summer job in Fiji turns into a life changing experience. On their private flight to Fiji, the plane goes down...only three survivors.Violet- witty, sassy, intelligent, brave & strong seventeen year old, who knows her own mind. I loved her instantly. She’s been hired for the summer to nanny for a wealthy family of a five year old girl.Beck - a broody, gorgeous, award winning, 30 year old photographer. He’s been hired to photograph for a development deal.Ian - the mid-western, handsome, funny flight attendant that brings levity to any situation.Ian, Violet and Beck must do what they can to survive. Violet makes their makeshift camp into a home and mothers them, Ian -badly injured- provides comic relief and friendship and Beck does the heavy lifting, exploring and taking care of the family.A story of survival. A story of friendship. A story of a family forged by circumstance. The human spirit has the ability to not only survive but thrive. These people depend upon each other to find the will to go on and make a life together on their deserted island. This story is beautifully written! It sucked me in and kept me up well through the night because I couldn’t put it down. I hope there will be more. I loved every page.

Great romance
After falling in love with Julie Johnson through her Forbidden Royals series, I started binge reading her books. I loved this one especially. The way they hate each other at first and then, fighting for survival on a lonely island, really hooked me and I had to keep reading throughout the night. Can't wait for the sequel!
