**Q: Is it acid free? OK for archiving? Thanks!**
A: No! 3M/Scotch replied to me: Our Book Tape #845 is not acid free but will not deteriorate over time causing possible damage and subsequent repair. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us directly at 1-800-328-6276. We are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 4:30 CT.

**Q: Is this a hinging tape?**
A: This is for the outside spine and corner repairs. Except for a very large, heavy book perhaps, it is too thick for inside repairs to pages. It will make the inside thicker than intended and cause other spine damages by pushing the pages apart. Tapes used on the inside of a book should be thin and acid-free. There are other tapes for page repairs. 
If you are trying to repair a borrowed book(library or textbook), I assure you they would rather repair it themselves than having it damaged further by incorrect repairs!

**Q: What is really the difference between this and regular packing tape? Why would I use it over the other?**
A: This is NOT packing tape, to seal packages for a short period of time. Packing tape is thinner and more susceptible to moisture damage. Book tape is meant for permanent repairs of books and magazines, book covers, spines, etc. It is thicker so it resists tearing and reduces damage from handling.

**Q: Can you use this tape to re-adhere pages within a book, or is it only meant for book bindings? Thanks!**
A: This won't work for pages that need to be glued back to the binding.  I've used it to repair torn pages and the outside binding.
