Great quality - smooth locking and solid grip
I bought these as well as a loupe to use while examining stones for an engagement ring. My girlfriend wanted a rose cut diamond, which are a lot less common now, so I had to be open to stones which I might need to order online, and in many cases rose cut diamonds are not already certified. However, I didn't want to make that significant of an investment without examining the stone myself in person, even though I have no formal training in the matter, and I wanted to have the right tools for the job. These tweezers worked very well - just like the ones that one would use at a jeweler. You push the slider towards the prongs of the tweezer to lock its grip, and the opposite direction to loosen it. The serrations on the end are actually more like little rounded teeth than the lines or ribs, and they offer a very secure grip - I've included a picture (the picture is of the fine version of the tweezers - I also purchased the medium size TWZ-101.76). These were probably quite overkill for the limited use I'll put them to, but the quality can't be beat.
