That Night: Four Friends, Twenty Years, One Haunting Secret—A Twisted Thriller of Guilt, Betrayal, and Revenge : Nidhi Upadhyay: desertcart.in: Books Review: Highly recommend for thriller story readers - What a thriller! This book is truly unputdownable. I started reading it before bedtime, knowing that reading usually helps improve sleep—but the gripping storyline had other plans! 😀 I got so absorbed in the plot that I completely lost track of time. The suspense is intense and keeps you hooked from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone who loves fast-paced, edge-of-the-seat thriller and suspense stories. Review: A Gripping Thriller That Stays With You - “That Night” by Nidhi Upadhyay is a haunting psychological thriller that grabs you from the first page and keeps you hooked until the end. The story follows four college friends—Natasha, Riya, Anjali, and Katherine—who share a terrifying secret from their past, involving a tragic incident and a vow to never speak of it again. But twenty years later, the past comes back to haunt them in chilling ways. What I loved most is how the book shifts between past and present, slowly unraveling the truth and showing how one night changed everything. The suspense builds up well, and there are twists in almost every chapter that make you question each character’s motives. The emotional layers around friendship, guilt, and betrayal are handled really well. Each character has depth and a story of their own, making the plot feel more real and intense. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that at times, the timeline switches could get a little confusing—but that didn’t take away from the thrill and tension. Verdict: A dark, twisty, and emotionally engaging read that explores how one night can shatter lives. If you enjoy stories with secrets, suspense, and drama, this one's for you!

Gripping Thriller with a Surprising End!
"That Night" is a gripping read that keeps you hooked from the very first page. The story moves in a single, tight direction, making it impossible to put down. What I loved most was the timing of the mysterious ‘hacker’ or ghost (no spoilers!) — it ensured all the friends stayed tied into the tension equally. The friendship dynamics felt real and relatable, even reminding me of my own circle of friends. The ending was truly surprising. A perfect pick for new readers who want to get hooked on thrillers!

Not as expected
That Night is gripping right from the start. It has an interesting storyline; it gave me the I Know What You Did Last Summer vibes. However, as the story continues, the pace slows down to a lull. In my opinion, the writing could have been improved significantly. I found myself going back and re-reading some parts as I simply got lost in all the characters and their thought descriptions. I felt the story stalled in the middle of the book and occasionally lost its momentum. As a result, it ended up being confusing and stretched in places. The blurb was catchy, and I had thought I would enjoy this, but sadly, the jerky writing made the book less than enjoyable. It’s a pity because That Night has a good storyline and could have been a great book had the writing been better. Many readers seemed to have liked this book, so if you are in for a supernatural thriller from an Indian author, you may try this.

Overall
Writing the review after finishing the book. 1)The delivery was on time and the product was in a good condition. 2)The book is a good read. Horror was suttle and characters arc written didn't felt like forced. Ending could have been strong.

A Gripping Page-Turner!
A gripping read from Nidhi Upadhyay! Thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. The mystery and subtle horror elements are woven beautifully, and the group dynamics between the characters add real depth to the story. Highly recommended if you enjoy psychological thrillers with a touch of the supernatural.

That night is a well written fiction work by Nidhi Upadhyay. The story revolves around 4 friends and a prank gone wrong. Characters are well researched and narrated while throughout the book characters act within their realms of strength and weakness. This helps to vividly pictures their fears, their journey in their individual and collective guilt and their survival instincts. The most I enjoyed in this book is not just a strong story plot but also how characters like Katherine were played beautifully between sound technical and logical thinking and also an underlying belief and fear of paranormal. “It’s A Great one time read.

Amazing work by author. Such an exciting and intriguing story about college friends and two dark nights which turned their lives upside down. Author has tried to maintain the curiousity in every page of the book. You would not like to put the book down till you finish it. I would highly recommed this book.

For a random quick read this was surprisingly refreshing from my usual genre of books & couldn’t put it down but I would have loved a heads up that this isn’t a book for a bedtime otherwise the plot was very logical and captivating

It was so much fun reading this book! It gives you goosebumps, keeps you on the edge of your seat, but you can’t put it down! It’s a thriller and it delivers the thrills! The story is also about friendship and will bring you back to your college days. Also loved the writing - loved reading the scene from each friend’s perspective. It gives you insight into their characters! Great debut book and looking forward to read more from the author!
