So before I begin I want to say that these are very good and sensitive tests. With that being said. As women, it is so HARD to play the waiting game. Whether you planned the pregnancy or not. Whether you're tracking the line progression or not. DO NOT USE THIS TEST FOR LINE PROGRESSION! I understand it may work for some, you see some of them get darker and darker but please. If you get a positive, even that faint little line, take a digital test. I went through an entire pack of the first response comfort testing. Didn't get a single positive. I got my faint positives with this and I obsessed over checking that line. I got a digital and took it, even with diluted pee not from the first am but actually late afternoon and I got a big fat "pregnant". Do not make yourself sick over tracking the lines or checking the lines. I have OCD and I know most other people do but please, for your mental sake, your partners, if you get a test that even looks the faintest positive, test with a digital in a day or two. You have all got this. You're beautiful amazing women with bodies who created and nourish life.

I took a number of pregnancy tests in combination with the AccuMed HCG strip, in addition to quantative blood tests so I know EXACTLY the amount of HCG in my blood when these tests were taken. In addition, I verified this information with peer reviewed scientific literature. What I found conflicts with most information on Google. For us pre-moms, I want us to have the most factual information that hasn’t been muddled so here is my synopsis from my experience, verified by peer reviewed articles: - First response early detection can detect HCG the most accurately on the market (as low as 5.5-6.3 mIU/mL HCG!). [Cole et. al, 2003; Cole 2011] - CVS knockoff first response also detected my HCG at a very low amount. I took both First Response and CVS first response knockoff to confirm and the same day. - Digital tests generally cannot detect HCG that is lower than 25 mIU/mL. I confirmed this (picture taken HCG was ~11 mIU/mL). The exception may be first response digital, although this was not my experience (Cole, 2011). - ClearBlue early response can detect HCG at 13 mIU/mL, but the line is very faint and interpretive. The second line generally is unquestionable between 22-25 mIU/mL. In my experience, it was 20 mIU/mL. (Butler et. al, 2001; Cole, et. al, 2001; Cole, 2011). - Other pregnancy tests were found to not have a positive result until 50 mIU/mL (Cole, 2011). The Accumed strips are not sensitive, at least not to the standard of First Response, or the CVS knockoff brand. I began to see a very, very faint line around 13 mIU/mL HCG but it is very difficult to read and you can’t really see it unless you shine a flashlight to it. For half the women purchasing this item, this won’t really matter because their HCG will already be above 25 HCG after their missed period. The other half of women may see a very faint line as I did. Others may prefer a test less sensitive if they already have an elevated HCG. However, I think it’s crucial we all know what we’re buying and that this test is more likely to yield a false negative. My intention of leaving this review is to inform you and help protect you, if you are vulnerable to a complicated pregnancy and to give you actual data on the accuracy of this test. If you are a person like me who is susceptible to miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies, then you understand how vital it is to detect HCG as early as possible. Miscarriages sometimes require a D&C and ectopic pregnancies can threaten a partial hysterectomy if not caught in time. The knowledge of when you are pregnant (sooner rather than later) is vital in case your pregnancy ends with complications and becomes a threat to your fertility and (God forbid) life. However, ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages generally have a low rise in HCG, unlike typical pregnancies (not that every pregnancy is typical, right?). My point is that you may not detect your pregnancy until a week after a missed period, which has happened to me twice. That being said, pregnancy tests are EXPENSIVE. When I bought this test I read reviews that many women were able to test positive around the same day as more expensive pregnancy tests. Unfortunately, I suspect this may have been because their HCG was already rising at a fast rate and they had larger amounts of HCG to be detectable. Keep in mind that most women have an HCG less than 0 (over 97%, according to some literature), but some women may have a slightly high HCG due to fertility treatments or an underlying health condition. For this reason, women on quantitative HCG blood tests are not considered pregnant under 5 mIU/mL and should be considered when using a sensitive pregnancy tests like First Response. Ultimately, this pregnancy did end as ectopic, as indicated in the slow rise in HCG. My levels reached 25 by week 8. Thanks to First Response and the CVS knockoff brand, I was able to receive treatment without surgery.

Well, I can confirm they work. I bought a bag of these in May 2025 to periodically test just to be safe, and that's how I found out a couple days ago. I retested with three first response tests just to be absolutely certain (mostly because I was I couldn't believe it - I'm sure you guys can relate). Are these as sensitive/easy to read as the first response tests? No - but they get the job done for a fraction of the cost

My partner and I have been trying to conceive for quite some time. We’ve suffered several losses in the past so anytime I’m pregnant, I always track my line progression to gauge if my HCG is going up, staying the same, or going down. This cycle we did a round of Clomid. I took a Clearblue 6 days sooner test on Cycle Day (CD) 9 and got a faint line. I also had taken an AccuMed. The AccuMed was so so so faint that if I didn’t have the other test, I wouldn’t have believed it. I continued to track line progression with Clearblue 6 Days Sooner tests, First Response Early Result (FRER) tests, and the AccuMed. I find the AccuMed the hardest to tell any difference in line progression. On 14 days past ovulation (DPO), I had gotten a “dye stealer” on a FRER test and the AccuMed still wasn’t even as dark as the control line. By 15 DPO, using a Clearblue 6 Days Sooner, the test line was equally as dark as the control line, but on AccuMed, it still has not done that. In conclusion, I do see some line progression on the AccuMed, but had I not been taking other tests, I would have been worried that the pregnancy was not progressing the way it should have been. These tests are okay for telling you if you are or are not pregnant as long as you’re plenty far out from ovulation. (I had my first obvious positive on the AccuMed on 11 DPO. Waiting the 5 minutes before reading the test is an absolute must.) However, if you are anxious and are trying to track line progression, I think a more “reputable” brand is worth it. I have been taking lots of AccuMed tests because they are cheap, but every other day, I test with a FRER or Clearblue 6 Days Sooner test to actually look for the line progression.

This is my second pack of these tests. Last cycle they were every bit as sensitive as FRER in picking up my pregnancy that sadly ended up being a chemical. I used them to test down my levels. When truly no HCG there is a stark white test. I ordered a new pack for this cycle where I have been testing since about 7dpo and seeing shadows of lines (I have implantation spotting on 5/6dpo) which is why I decided to test early. This morning on 10dpo I fully expected to see a line that was undeniably a positive based off my personal history and the spotting/other symptoms. I was shaken when the test came up stark white, not even a shadow of a line. I was convinced I was having another chemical pregnancy. I then on a whim decided to test with another test from the same pack and got the result I expected to see. Although very relieved to see the line there, I was a little discouraged to know that these tests came from the same pack and the exact same urine sample wa used and having such drastically different results. So be wary of a result that doesn’t seem right and double check. But overall these have been easy to use, and reliable for the most part. You can see in the above picture the vast difference in these tests
