Strategic Platform for Growth
I learned about the Delta Model as a student of MIT and Dr. Hax. After learning about it from the Master himself, I purchased the first edition and the second edition as soon as it was available (great imrpovement). I then implemented the Delta Model into our company's strategic planning framework. It has worked like magic for our 150-200M high tech company, growing at double digit rates through a recession. The Delta Model is simple and complex at the same time. Once everyone understands it, the model can be applied at the macro and micro level of all strategic discussions. When we first introduced the Delta Model, we discovered that we had a disporportionate emphasis on Best Product strategies with very little efforts towards System Lock In. Now we are all about System Lock In strategies. What was a real surprise was the fact that our customers appeared to ask for and appreciate our new System Lock In strategic initiatives. The Delta Model is required reading for all senior managers. This book needs to be part of Business 101 training.

Great Work Professor Hax
I am a PhD student in Jomo Kenyatta University in Nairobi Kenya. I was looking for a book that would give me an exposure into relevant existing Strategic Management models. The Delta Model Approach is giving me new insights in the area of Strategic management particularly in connecting theory and practice. Great Work Professor Hax!

Partnerships are the key!
Wow what a book, simply amazing... for those who know Michael E. Porter and Geoffrey A. Moore books, boy what a nice upgrade!!Our world is changing and exponentially, faster then you perceive, but companies struggle with that because people don't change that fast and Hax visualize ways to overcome this fast changing business world we live in.

Brilliant Positioning, Poor Writing and Cases
Prof. Hax, his MIT colleagues and former students have put together a brilliant strategic positioning model that fully addresses today's networking realities in business. The model they have come up with is called The Delta Model which is far superior to what exists now. It is a must for anybody who engages in Business Strategy. This is the upside. On the downside, the editing of the book is dismal. Graphics are directly from PowerPoint slides. Most of the text seem to be cut and paste from MIT student presentations and reports. The use of terms are inconsistent which confuses the reader. The book needs a thorough editing work.In addition, treatment of business strategy is incomplete. All you get is a limited coverage on customer segmentation and excellent one for strategic positioning. Do not expect depth in other areas of business strategy. All in all, a good and enlightening read for strategy professionals.

interesante approach muy util para estrategias de comercializacion de soluciones con valor agregado, talvez no tanto para la comercializacion de comodities.
