First bad Galaxy’s Edge book, great series though...
Let me preface by saying I love Anspach and Cole’s Universe they have created. I have been hooked from the very first line ‘the galaxy is a dumpster fire’. I love the original series, love the the Tyrus Rex stand alones too. The second season has also started with a great start and book. I will also preface by stating I am an avid sci-fi fantasy reader and read at least a book a week.I do not usually review books I enjoy, and I think I will start doing that as I often thoroughly enjoy a good book and do not give the author a good review.I will start with the good reviews tomorrow. I just did not enjoy this book. The main character is sooooooo boring. He has zero flaws, and everyone loves him. The enemy/antagonist is who? Never figured it out. The book is about a Dark Ops solo mission to galaxy's edge planet to stop terrorism. The vast majority if this book is the main protagonist going around and watching the local authorities do their job/train and him consulting them on better methods. Yep. Consulting. Small amounts of action and legionaire flashbacks are not quite enough to get past the sluggish pace of a zero-flaw, boring, super vanilla D.O. agent consulting local authorities to train and apprehend nameless terrorists. I couldn't finish this book. I read 80% according to my kindle. I just could not finish it. The pace was just to painful. 80% in and he is still consulting local authorities about their improper prisoner treatment. Important stuff, but so is accounting. Both boring to the reader. Thank u for a wonderful series though. I will continue to buy your Galaxy’s Edge books.

It was awesome, and I was highly entertained.
I read this book after I finished up the three Savage Wars novels and right before I picked up Madame Guillotine. I could have just said "It was awesome, and I was highly entertained" and left it at that, but there's something pretty awesome about this book that you might not want to miss. This book gives us an inside glimpse at someone who is a step beyond the (freaking awesome) galactic honey badgers who are bringing the KTF to every karking kelhorn that threatens the Republic. Instead of a one-dimensional 100% jocked up killer (which still would have been awesome) we are introduced to someone who is humble, wise, thoughtful, and dedicated on top of being 100% ready to KTF.There are easily a dozen or more sections worth highlighting in this novel that are not only character-defining for Kel, but also applicable concepts that you can take away for your own life story. If you're into Galaxy's Edge at all you definitely won't want to miss out. Besides, it was awesome, and I was highly entertained.

Authenticity at the very heart of the story
I love reading authors with a background that can feed into the subject from personal experience and this book draws heavily from that real world experience.Tolkien and Lewis drew from their experiences in both World Wars, Haldeman served in Vietnam, and Carr spent an entire career in the GWOT.Military SciFi is not about accurate and plausible small unit tactics, technical gear descriptions, or assaults out of starships, just like fantasy isn’t really about swords, magic, and dragons. Somehow they are both at their core about the heart of man and the state of humanity. This book specifically is about the heart of a warrior, a heart that remains steadfast regardless of service, country... and galaxy.Check it out and get hooked. Circle back around to the original series when you get the chance too and you won’t be disappointed!

expanding Galaxy's Edge Universe
This was OK, I felt there was excessive amount of space on useless descriptions that did not add to the story or character development. The overall story idea was good - just felt very dry for my taste.

So Freaking GOOD!
I finished Nick Cole, Jason Anspach and Doc Spears "Dark Operator" just before 3AM this morning. It's set of course on the "Galaxy's Edge".So was it worth it to stay up so late?More than worth it!I may be a little sleep deprived but I am story enriched!!!

True legionnaire capability on full show!
This story shows how truly versatile a legionarie is.Galaxy’s Edge keeps getting better and better.Just when you think you’ve just read the best story you could imagine then they come out with “Dark Operator”.It blew me away at how capable and efficient a lone operator can be.This story shows us everything in an operator’s arsenal. His skills are second to none, whether they be on the battlefield or in a political meeting and everything in between. This book really impressed me and I couldn’t put it down. Thanks Doc, Jason and Nick for superb storytelling!Sincerely,The McDonald’s

Best character development in the entire GE series
Let's be clear: I consume voraciously every word that Anspach and Cole commit to paper as if it were the secret to eternal life. You can call me a fan. That said, of every book of theirs I've read, this one, by far, makes me care about the characters as people, not just as plot vehicles, more than any of the other books. I want to know more about Kel. I developed a bond with the general, and was enthralled by him.Excellent writing. This series is tremendously enjoyable!

Legion undercover dirty jobs team
Violence, but more surgical strikes than out and out "shoot if it moves" More thoughtful covert operation, training locals and getting to the bottom of the surge in terrorist activity. Dark Ops is a look into a shadowy side of legion activities, one with no recognition or medals. I enjoyed it.

Dark Opreato: A Military Science Fiction Special Forces Thriller
This is a first rate science fiction thriller that will appeal to all ages, with action from the start right through to the very end. One may find It difficult to expect the end of the book, but it only you look for the next adventure in this series.
