I did not want to get him some cheap set and these have "Carbon Stainless Steel blades". These scissors do not stain easily are rust and stain resistant.Included in this set is a scissor for just about everything he (or any household) could need. One Eight inch Kitchen shears, an eight and a half inch scissor, a five inch scissor and a four inch scissor. I also wanted to add that the Kitchen shears have a serrated blade and an area to open bottle caps. I am a little concerned that the plastic handles might nit hold up as well as the blades.
