A Total Gym "killer"?
I will start by saying that I am very happy with my Gr8flex gym. I got mine before the price hike, so for me, it was a great choice. I replaced a 10-year-old base model Total Gym that I had received as a gift and had grown out of. I had looked at the TG Fit and just couldn't justify the cost. So, the Pros: This thing is built very well. The pulleys are very smooth and the rollers are the same. I thought the resistance bands would be a gimmick, but they are a great idea and work very well to give you that extra work out. The additional attachments are great. Dip bars, ab attachment, squat deck, and wing bars take this to the next level, fit great, and are sturdy. For me at least, another big pro is the customer service I received. I'll touch on that in a minute. The cons: I don't have many. The packing could be a little better as my unit has a few scratches from the pulleys. Some bubble wrap around them would be a big plus. The name labels were bowed and loose, so I pulled them off. Problem solved. I was missing the D-ring to attach the leg pulley. 3 of the plastic caps were broken on arrival. And last, the wheels had a flat spot. So the customer service. I had emailed a couple of times before my purchase to ask a few questions. I received a reply in an hour, and usually not more than a few hours. When I received my unit, I immediately emailed with photos of what was damaged and missing and included my shipping address. I had shipping confirmation the same day and received the plastic caps, D-ring, and 4 new rollers within a few days. I haven't received service like this in quite some time and was very happy. So, if you go into this purchase with the realization that you may have some hiccups initially, you won't be disappointed. Is this a TG killer? At the $1600 price point, I'd call it very strong competition, given all of the attachments that are included, as well as the resistance bands. At the $600 price point that I purchased mine at? Absolutely. I've used mine quite a bit since I got it, and this thing is great. I don't regret the purchase at all. If they could work out the kinks with the packing to prevent damage and better quality control on the wheels, this over a TG would be a no brainer. Also, if you're reading this Gr8flex...how about including an assembly/user's manual and a beginners workout book like TG has with theirs? To wrap up...a great machine, with great customer service (in my case at least) and, at the lower price, a great value for the price.

Impressive build quality!
I took a chance buying this machine from a company that I had never heard of. But the positive Amazon reviews were overwhelming. But the main thing that swayed my buying decision in favor of the GR8FLEX was that in comparing to the TotalGym XL7 at $398.99, the closest match that I could find at that price point, they seem pretty close with respect to extra attachments. But the GR8FLEX at $388.00 comes with 15 resistance levels and if that's not enough, it also includes 4 rubber resistance bands that can individually be attached to the bottom of the glide seat for added levels of resistance, the TotalGym XL7 only has 12 resistance levels and no resistance bands. Then there is the Warranty. The GR8FLEX warranty covers EVERYTHING.(PERIOD). If "Anything" breaks on this machine, they will replace it. The build quality is as good as I have ever seen. It is pre-assembled and simply unfolds right out of the box. You just have to familiarize yourself with the attachments. While using, it is easy to adjust the resistance levels, the glide seat rolls smoothly and quietly on the rails. It is just a joy to use. And for anyone out there who has experienced the difficulty of trying to stay on an exercise routine and has never tried a body weight resistance machine such as this. I can only tell you that there is something magical about pulling your body up and down those rails that actually makes it fun. And if you can have fun exercising, you will keep doing it. Now you may ask, can this machine really give you a real workout? I am here to tell you . . . HELL YEAH!!! This machine will make your muscles BURN. But remember, you have 15 levels of resistance, just start on the low end and increase your resistance accordingly. Bottom line . . . I am very happy I bought the GR8FLEX and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy a high quality machine at an affordable price.

You can stop comparing to Total Gym Fit now and just buy a GR8FLEX!
First off...the only negative thing I can say about this GR8FLEX is I felt kind of dirty ordering it, like I was letting down loyal friends I've had for years on Total Gym infomercials with Chuck Norris and the Home Shopping Networks with Rosalie Brown showing us how awesome Total Gyms are. And they are! But then seeing the cost of the Total Gym Fit being anywhere between $800.00 to $1500.00 I gave up hope of ever owning my own, and continued using my base model no frills Total Gym Pro I paid under $200.00 around 15 years ago. Then while on Amazon one day I checked out the Total Gym Fit once again in hopes of a drastic price drop. Wasn't happening, the cost was still over $800.00 bucks. Then I accidentally saw this thing called the GR8FLEX. I shrugged and figured it was just a cheap knock off for half the cost of a TG Fit, snooping a little more...I noticed it looked very much like the TG Fit...compared the dimensions, the style, the tower, the glide board and accessories, the only thing I could see that was different is the ab crunch accessory's shape. So I ordered the gold one, it came last Friday and I'm still blown away by the high quality of this machine + all of the accessories. Suddenly I didn't feel quite as dirty for ordering it, I actually felt kind of betrayed by the infomercials trying to gouge people with the over inflated cost of a TG Fit. If it was a difference of maybe $100.00 or so, I'd say well that's OK...they are the original makers and deserve to make more of a profit. But $1100.00 more than a GR8 FLEX?!?! That's just highway robbery! So do yourself a favor if you've ever thought about purchasing a TG Fit, don't do it! Order a GR8FLEX..you will not be sorry! One other negative thing I can say, is it looks like there are no parts available for a GR8FLEX...but the only thing that can really go wrong from wear and tear on these machines are cables an roller wheels after a long time of use, probably years of use. That's where the Total Gym comes in handy, it looks to me like Total Gym cables and replacement wheels would fit on the GR8FLEX since they are identical pieces of equipment. Hope this helped anyone on the fence about purchasing one of these. JUST DO IT! UPDATE: I wrote this review a year and a half ago and the quality of this machine is excellent. However I just came on to see if the price has jumped up...and WOW!! I must have bought mine at just the right time, because I only paid $400.00 for it, including all of the attachments. I had a strange feeling back then I should have invested in a few more of these at that price, because now they are listed on here for over $1600.00!!!..WOW. So although my review on the quality of this machine hasn't changed, I have to say the reason I was so excited about it and wrote such a great review was based 95% on the great price of it. Honestly if I was in the market again right now for this type of machine, I'd go with a lower priced lesser model of a Total Gym, it will give you the same awesome workout that this GR8FLEX would. Hope this update saves someone over the $1000.00 or more saved from not purchasing one of these.

Just what I need at my age.
Ok. Yes I am 67 years old. Have gone through a number of medical issues when I was in my 50โs. Open heart surgery to fighting and beating cancer and a whole lot of other things in between. Now that I am retired. I did not want to deteriorate sitting on a chair in front of a TV for the rest of my life. I wanted to get back in shape but found gyms, well lets just say not to my liking. I also found that trying to do any kind of exercise was very difficult and hurt. I just did not have the strength anymore. My Dr. Recommended the total gym because I could adjust the degree of difficulty to my limits. I looked at the total gym but it was a bit on the expensive side. Then I found the GR8FLEX and was impressed with all that came with it compared to the Total Gym. Plus it also came with additional tension springs should I require more resistance. It arrived in one big heavy box. It was easy to set up and get right into working out. This will give you a work out so donโt be fooled. I found it easy to start with and by adjust the degree of difficulty I was able to perform a number of exercises I could not do before. I have had it for three months now and have increased up 5 levels already. I also lost 40lbs. It is very well made and the customer service was great. I was missing the cell phone holder. When I contacted them their reply was swift and explained that as soon as they get more because they were on back order they would send me one. Three weeks went by and I received and email stating that they had not forgotten me and are expecting the shipment any day. Four days later I received it. Customer service that follows up? What more can you ask of a company. I would highly recommend this equipment to anyone wanting to get in shape and would rather do it at home.
