how likely are these to crack or chip? thinking about them being knocked off of a desk by kids...

Jennifer, I haven't dropped mine, fortunately, but if it were to drop--on the floor, for example--I think there's a high likelihood it would crack or chip--after all, it's mostly a sheet of glass. However, the glass has what appears to be a thin plastic layer bonded to its underside, so I doubt it would shatter like a window. It must be understood it needs to be treated more carefully than its non-glass counterpart.

Are the easel and clip parts removable?

The clip part is. The easel is attached to the back, but folds against the back of the board to allow it to lay flat.

Mine did not come with an eraser or drawer Seems the description is not for this product but for the keyboard version. Also what if the marker that comes with it dries out? Some say regular dry erase markers even those for this brand bleed.

Drawer is for the slanted keyboard style board. You can purchase more dry erase markers made by Quartet here on Amazon.

Unfortunate it doesn't appear to also include magnet on back, to keep table/work area clear when not working? (Not all of us have 'office/desk space')

you are correct, there are no magnets. I did, however, hot-glued three rare-earth magnets to the back and that allows me to hang it when not writing on it
